Re: Original radio repair success! Thanks for the info. We have been working with companies in New York and Michigan the repairs that we aren't set up to do in house. Nice to see there is a local alternative.

    Interior panels dying them?

Re: Interior panels dying them? Sem also makes sem soap that does a great job of pulling off the contaminates and has a mild abrasive to help with adhesion. I use that then the plastic and leather prep when I do interior panels. Seems to work out well.

    RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit

Re: RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit A lot of cars were and still are built because first and foremost the owner liked the car. Mark Eldrige's latest car build is in a retired 2005 sprint cup racecar. Still no real interior to speak of but I understand it sounds amazing. Unfortunately I don't think...

    RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit

Re: RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit Vehicles in general are something an audiophile wouldn't consider. Speakers up high put your first order reflection points at the glass. Put the speakers down lower and you may be able to alleviate that but then there is height of stage. Unequal pathlengths for...

    Need help with door

Re: Need help with door Had the same type of issues with my Sy. Ended up being out of round holes where the upper pin and bushings were. The bushing had worn and the pin was wallowing out its hole. I just welded up the hole and re-drilled it. Worked fine.

    Never mounted Blade of Death

Re: Never mounted Blade of Death I could also make one from hdpe. Pretty tough material but it would give before tearing up the metal it attaches to. To the guys who are making / selling them I have no interest in duplicating your design to make and sell them. I am just proposing alternate...

    Never mounted Blade of Death

Re: Never mounted Blade of Death Step bits (uni-bit) will also drill 1/4" or thicker plexiglass as long as you aren't right on the edge or pushing too hard. Another tip on drilling or cutting plexi is use a board under it to keep it from cracking.

    Never mounted Blade of Death

Re: Never mounted Blade of Death Yeah I guess when the goal is to minimize damage to the truck something like a 1/4 plexi part makes sense. If I had a template I could machine one at work and try it out.

    Never mounted Blade of Death

Re: Never mounted Blade of Death I don't think a plexiglass one would last. Plexi doesnt like impacts that would push it against the mount and would likely break. Lexan might survive a little better.

    RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit

Re: RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit I wouldn't say that a Ty or Blazer are the most ideal platform for an audiophile system, but they can be made to sound good. With the new generation of audio processors you can really dial the audio system in much better and compensate for the less than ideal...

    RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit

Re: RetroSport 1.5 DIN Head unit For anyone looking for a feature packed deck that is an easy install I would look for a Parrot Asteroid. The single din version is about half the depth of a standard head unit so no need for dash mods to make it fit flush.

    Static sound in radio

Re: Static sound in radio Is it a factory or aftermarket deck? There are several different filters you can use on the power wiring of the radio itself. The simplest would be to try a ferrite suppression core. It is simply a magnet through which the power wire passes. Quick, easy and inexpensive...

    Static sound in radio

Re: Static sound in radio This is also a good idea if you are putting in a multimedia in-dash source unit. The current demands are usually more than the factory wiring was designed for. That coupled with the age and possible corrosion / oxidation of the original grounds can cause issues. Just...
