Will not start

Is this your bush?
Re: Will not start

Your not getting fuel....possible sending unit fuel pump hose hookup...Did you get a gauge and hook it up to the fuel rail? Check the wiring that is running to the pump? Just food for thought.

Was getting 47 psi on the old pump but after I drove it last and it stalled out whenever I would put any pressure on the gas while driving I replaced the pump. Has new filter and runs with the help of starting fluid. Pump is definitely running.

Re: Will not start

I am looking at sensors as problem now. Which ones would prevent fuel, ignition and injector firing on start up?

Look at tune up stuff, even ignition coil. Verify timing as well. I'd go as far as taking the distributor cap off, spin the motor by hand on the alt pulley and get the distributor to cylinder one and make sure you're checking timing with the correct line on the balancer. My guess is its ignition related.

Re: Will not start

Watching this thread hoping you get it sorted out. I have a Tuned port motor that does exactly the same thing. Fuel pressure is good at the rail but on a cold start, refuses to fire on its own without starting fluid.

Re: Will not start

I'm at a total loss what to try next. Any thoughts on what to look at? Only problem I can find is the remote oil line leak that comes standard.

Did you try a stock ECM? I have one you can borrow just swap your chip in it cause I got it without one. Also, could the fuel regulator be the problem? Maybe it is losing vacuum after engine is shut down or dies? Just another thing to look at. Being that you are using Code 59, I imagine it is a faulty tune which is not providing the fuel needed.

ECM number 01227749, it says. PM me if you want to try this one. Bought it from a board member as a good unit but never tried it. Just wanted to have a spare.

Re: Will not start

Finally got time to test the TPS (hopefully correctly) as described. With key on it was showing between 1 and 2 and full throttle was just below 4.

Took a few tried since hasn't been run in a while but as has been the cases with starting fluid started and ran perfect once started.

Thanks to everyone who has been offering their help. Just can't find a better group of people with better trucks (even when they don't work) out there.

Just reread this whole thread again. Did you try unplugging the TPS and then try to start it? I dont see any mention of it. I just tried to start my tuned port today. Unfortunately car has been sitting so long I blew a fuel line before I could get it started.

I have tried to unplug the TPS didn't have any affect going to look towards the ecm route see what I can find there. Seems like I am searching for needle in haystack.

Thanks for the tip I'm going to try a new regulator and the triple check all the lines and see then try the ECM,

Thanks for the offer on the ECM I may just buy one to have a spare as well regardless. I will pm if want to just try one Is there any place I can get a stock ECM with a Stock chip?
I am not sure what is more likely to go bad the chip I have or the ECM so this way I can eliminate all possibilities.

Re: Will not start

I just noticed that my link to the no-start pdf wasn't working. It's back up. Did you ever just follow this thing? It can try your patience, sometimes I know but follow it and it will run.

Don,
Did you ever wonder why people don't just follow the directions and make things easy?

I read through these threads at times and just shake my head as I hear them go Ka ching ka ching over and over. lol

Then again if they followed the directions this section of the forums wouldn't be needed. lol

This is 8 pages long now - can you summarise what you have tried and what symptoms you have? Bullet points?

Re: Will not start

It has gotten out of control I agree

Truck cranks but will not start without ether. Then runs great.
Last time I drove it, it would stall out if I gave it any gas to accelerate (normal driving)

Checked all wires, grounds and vacuum lines
Tested tps and temp and seem ok
Spark tested ok
Injector light test did not light (haven't had chance to test with new ecm)
No codes (that I can tell, battery was out)
Pressure 47 psi +/-
Replaced: Ignition module, fuel filter, fuel pump (walbro), ecm

Re: Will not start

I have asked about 3 times in the thread but you never answered.

What injectors do you have?

This is weird but if you disconnect the FP relay, will it start?

Have you used the test lead to bypass the fuel pump relay or do you have the Racetronix kit?

The fact your NOIDs aren't lighting is still pointing to the injectors. Did you check for 12v on both terminals of the harness?

Is it a stock chip?

What MAP sensor?

I will try to disconnect the relay worth a shot.
Has a moates adapter and 59 tune.
Not sure which map sensor or really the injector type they have the red stripe

Sorry I'm still new when it comes to the electrical/computer end. It has been very frustrating but learning a lot thanks to everyone

Re: Will not start

Tried disconnecting the oil pressure sensor and it fired up without either and idled fine but did stall out when given gas (still in park). Would this be that sensor, would a fuel regulator be a culprit?

Re: Will not start

The oil pressure sender provides voltage to the pump when oil pressure builds past 4psi, The fuel pump relay provides power to the fuel pump for a few seconds to prime the pump. The oil pressure sender can be unplugged and the vehicle will still start and run. I just went thru this with my TPI car, the fuel pump would not turn off when I turned the car off from running and would run the battery dead. Unplug the switch and it would stop. The oil pressure sender was sticking. You will notice after your syty is shut off the fuel pump runs for a few seconds because there is still residual oil pressure

Re: Will not start

BTW I got my tpi car running. It has been moved occasionally over the last few years, but had to be fired with either every time. It would idle but would want to stall out under load. Well I had to take off my injector rail and regulator and there was trash in all of the injectors and regulator.
