Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

I think you need to find somebody in your area that knows code $59 to get your tune better starter bins are just that starter bins, they need to be custom taylored to your truck, you now have the power to do that, hope you have a fresh tune up before you started or your truck will never run right. What is done to your truck, what mods have been done, fuel pump, regulator, check timing, what thermostat temp, what injectors, what fuel pressure are you running, gap on plugs, vacuume lines checked, what plugs heat range, cap and rotor, etc.? We will be able to help you better knowing what is done to your truck.

There is nobody around here that knows code 59, well not that I am aware of.

Truck has a walbro 255 hp, KB AFPR, 36lb blue top Ford injectors, ATR aux cooler, 3" catback, custom cold air intake, MSD6, plugs gapped @ .028 & are 1 step colder than stock, timing is @ 0 degrees, 160 t-stat, FP is @ 45 -50PSI, Accel cap & rotor & plug wires, turbo was a TD06H-20G , but has a 60-1 wheel & a 12 CM turbine housing, TB airfoil, I think that's it.

Current best w/present mods is 12.0. Engine is 100% stock longblock along w/stock trans & converter.

Thanks

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

If you think it may be the iac and have another one to test swap , have you tried that yet ?
I have not tried it yet, that why I asked if I need to remove the intercooler in previous post.

I have not removed a IAC yet. Guess I will need to & also to look @ the current one on the engine.
Thanks

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

OK guys,
I used my niece' laptop, got the TP5RT emulating,DA connected, go to the fueling tables (IIRC)MAp vs RPM closed throttle , I enable the tracer cell, it's working, 40 lb bin is loaded, I see the A/F ratio is 20.1 or so, lean, so I highlight the tracer cell blocks I am going to change the input, so I then input 5 ,then hit the enter key, 10 more, enter key 15 etc enter key, & no change @ all.

Was wondering if I could possibly have an incorrect XDF file or something else could be wrong?

You guys have any ideas for me to look @ or am I doing this incorrectly?

Thanks

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

20.1 is WAY lean. You may want to start by editing the 0 cell in the BPC to get the fueling closer to 13:1-14:1 at idle and tweak from there via VE tables. If you have no luck with the 40# bin, start with the stock one and pull some BPC out for the slightly larger injectors (and remember to keep enough fuel in at WOT for the larger turbo).

2 immediate questions come to mind.

1) Are you emulating?
2) If not, are you saving the changes (in the editor window and the whole bin) and uploading the changed bin?

If neither of the above, then there's your problem. Changing data in a cell w/o emulating or saving is like pressing the gas pedal without the truck running......going through the motions.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Yes, I am emulating.
After I change a cell & hit the enter button.
If I do that, should the change in the cell take effect right after I hit the enter tab? or no?
Or do I need to save the changes (in the editor window and the whole bin) in order for the change to take effect?
Sorry to be so ignorant but what is editing the 0 cell in the BPC, abbreviated meaning?

Brake pulse constant -vs- desired EGR (F28) correct or something else?
First cell is 0 next one down is 1.60, so in the 0 cell what should & enter to make it richer?
Thanks

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

After you hit enter the info is not uploaded to the emulator yet. You need to upload either with the up arrow in the tool bar or the disk icon in the top left of the window for the table you just changed.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

and in BPC (F28) increase the numbers in the right column for more fuel. In that table, you need all the numbers the same so highlight the whole column, enter higher number (add 20 or so just to try it), hit enter, upload and see what happens.

Ok,
I seem to be having problems w/the laptop not hooking up to the ECU, stand by.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Well, hell.

I seemed to have made some changes in the BaSE ve -VS-rpm & MAP (EXTENDED,vacuum-30 psi f29x table.
Because when I input it I noticed the A/F ratio did get richer, only thing is after I did so I closed that table & reopened it & tried to enable the tracer & it did not work, the dash table does not work, as if it is not hooked up yo the TP5 RT, it showed it wasemulating,DA was connected but nothing.

So now that I made the changes, I cannot undue the chages I made (because the laptop will not hook up to the ECU it seems & now @ idle, if I triy to give it any throttle it will die.

So I guess I need to download another file & start over again. I did not get far @ all so I did not gain or lose anything that mattered..

I Plug in my ultimate chip & it works OK, it is rich @ idle though 13.9- 14.1 range.

I am not sure if I have some ECU or wire harness issues.

Thanks for your help guys.
To be continued.........................

BTW,,, One thing I noticed when I hooked up the laptop today the same table ( BaSE ve -VS-rpm & MAP (EXTENDED,vacuum-30 psi f29x table. )
all of the numbers where @ 0 & the tracer cell worked I could add numbers if I wanted to, then just recently when I made changes to the same table( BaSE ve -VS-rpm & MAP (EXTENDED,vacuum-30 psi f29x table. ) it had all the numbers from Robs 40 lb bin file, I thought thats strange, so I am thinking I have other issues going on here.

Sorry for all the trouble guys.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Arent you connecting to the ecm via the aldl for logging data , and have another usb plugged into your autoprom to allow bin changes via emulation? If so you should be able to make changes even when the ecm isnt connected right ?

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

You have a good point there.

I am confused on what part talks to what, how it all works, but I am learning & its hard to learn when my 2 boys 4 & 6 year old are here alone w/me, major distraction & hard to concentrate.

So, maybe the USB cable is not connecting good?

Thanks

Well shoot , you teach the young one to hold the laptop and the older one to read off what malf flags keep popping up . Lol .

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Too funny.:rotf:

Update,
I hooked up my nieces laptop again, uploaded Robs 40 lb injector bin. I have 36 lb injectors. Great success!

Man, the engine was crazy lean 20:1-21:1 @ idle.
Just been adjusting idle & up to 3000 RPM in park all of which were crazy lean also.

After each adjustment I saved each input.

I also applied the brake & gave some throttle, again, very lean 18:1 area from idle to 1800 RPM.

Question, when you guys are brake boosting, what typical A/F ratios do you guys shoot for?

I know every engine is different but just in general.

I was adjusting it richer just for starters (brake applied & giving some throttle) & was around 14:0 or so range, the more I richened it up, it seemed to like it better.

This is great! I am now enjoying the fundimentals of tuning finally & I am just getting started, parked in a driveway.:rotf:

Side note, the laptop I bought mainly to do tuning, still is not working, the emulation green box comes on, but still, when I try to connect the DA, it does nothing.

Thanks:tup:

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

OK update,
so now my friend is borrowing a IBM Thinkpad 600X to see if we can get this laptop working for tuning. It has Windows XP installed. If it works, I will buy it.

He copied all the files & bin file exactly the same that is on my nieces laptop which presently works,, the IBM will emulate & the DA will not connect just the same as the HP laptop I recently got.

Is there some setting or something else we could be overlooking?

Thanks for any insight.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

OK, so I tried a different old laptop a DELL , still DA did not connect until,,, we changed the Date Acq/emulation interface type to Autoprom/MaFTPro.

Now this Dell laptop works.
So I try & change the same setting to my HP laptop I bought for tuning & it works, the DA is connected,,,, but now, even though the DA connects, I try to enable the tracer cell & when I click on the Enable/disable data tracing cell the tracer cell does not go on, I can see the tracer cell box shows it's depressed & has a grey shadow around it (showing it is depressed) I still do not get a tracer cell in the fueling table.
Any ideas?
This is really frustrating not being able to get one laptop to consistanly work for any given length of time.:rant::rant::rant:;)

Thanks for any help.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

I would check your xdf and ads files . If they don't associate the right things , the link allowing cell tracing and etc will not show in the datastream . Re-download them and reinstall them . Ive also heard same folder locations help too but have successfully used otherwise .

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Thanks for that.
I put all the same files in all 3 different laptops & only one is working correctly. My nieces was working, but she loaned the computer & they messed it up, so now that does not work. So, 2 laptops I was working on were working, just not @ the same time.
They are all in one folder. When I select TP5 it loads alls the files & 1 bin @ the same time & it will work correctly only on one laptop for now.

So, I should start all over & reload the files on the laptops that are not working? You think that will work?

I would like to get my personal laptop (17" easier to see) to work correctly instead of buying this old DELL laptop from a co-worker that works correctly , if possible.

I do not mind the DELL, but it needs a battery, battery is $100- $130, it's really slow, Pentium 4 ,15" screen

The file location of the bin, adx, & xdf file are irrelevant to TP5. You can dump all three into one folder or make subfolders for each file type. You will link them in TP5 and it will preserve that file association until changed or deleted. Like I showed in the first tuning video (http://www.sytysolo.com/multimedia/tuning-tutorials/), just point TP5 to the files and off you go.

Do like Mike suggested and relink those files, ensuring that you're using the latest adx/xdf files. If needed, LMK and I'll send them to you.

Thanks guys,
I will try & reload the files again.
Mike,
If you could send the files I need that would help. Or post them here.
Thanks
