Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen & TP5RT questions.

Hey guys,

the other week my friend & I were messing w/the autoprom & TP5RT.

We were trying to adjust the A/F ratio @ 2500 RPM , but we could not see a tracer cell or high lighted cell to tell us where on the map we would need to make a change.

Even @ idle, we saw no tracer/ high lighted cell, we just high lighted several cells where we thought the idle area would be & we leaned it out & it worked.

In TP5 , does it show a tracer/high lighted cell so you can make adjustments for that particular area in the map?

I am not too good @ wording this properly, so hope someone can understand this.

I was running a 2 bar map sensor if that makes a difference?

Thanks
Rick

...also there are two versions of TP5 make sure you have the TunerProRT .
and use the latest .ADX ( .8 at this time) from www.Code59.org Paul just updated it for some port timing/latency settings.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

I bought a used laptop that has Windows 7 installed, originally it had Windows Vista.

I downloaded the correct files to get TP5RT working I believe.

Problem I am having is the DA: Not Connected will not connect.

I have used my nieces laptop & the DA will connect no problem.

I am not sure if the laptop I bought needs a different driver or what.

Any ideas about what I can look @ for a Windows 7 driver?
Download what driver ?, or is there something else about Windows 7 not being able to hook w/out any problems & use TP5RT?

Thanks

I run TP5RT in both 32/64 bit versions of Win7

What brand ALDL Cable are you using?

Check that you have the correct COM port selected first. (most common problem) - also....check in TOOLS -> PREFERENCES -> And select "USE PLUG IN" under Data Aquisitiion. (unless you are using an APU1)

If it is Moates support is here: http://www.moates.net/driver-download-c-78.html
Create a restore point then install driver. That way if you have a problem you can go back easily.
For those reading this DA = Data Aquisition via the ALDL link or cable

Thanks,
Yep the switches are correct position.
Like I said, my nieces laptop works fine, but when I try to use my new to me but old laptop the DA will not connect.

The emulation, I can turn on or off no problems w/that part.

Try a different USB port. Mine does this sometimes. FWIW, I have heard of people having issues with the Autoprom. I imagine that they are due to the user though.

I didn't see it mentioned, but is this running a code59 bin?

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Hey guys,
I am thinking I have an I.A.C .going bad intermitantly.

How would I adjust the I.A.C. on TP5 RT?

What is a typical setting on a stock engine?

Thanks

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Use the search function built in Tuner Pro RT i just did and it showed many adjustments for IAC. I have never had to use them to adjust the iac, you may just want to take your iac off and clean it, why do you think it is bad, it could be the bin your running. There is also a built in search button here on SYTY.net

IAC should be 10-30 at idle (Normal Stock Truck). Adjusting the throttle stop can change this value as you create a slight vacuum leak.

TABLES -> IDLE is where you will find IAC settings.

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

Thanks guys.
I think the IAC is bad because sometimes I will start the Sy & it will go through the normal cold start warm-up cycles & the A/f ratios are as normal.

Then, for no apparent reason, start it another time & it just does not want to idle, A/F ratios are in the 17:1 to 23:1 I have to constantly blip the throttle off & on just to keep it running.

It did this w/the stock chip, pitt bull chip, ultimate chip, & all with changing to the correct 2 & 3 bar map sensors, so I am thinking it is the IAC.

Also, @ other times when I am driving, it will go really rich @ idle to around 11:1 ,but when this does occur, if I run WOT, the A/F ratio is the same as it always has been.

The problems are always & idle w/the A/F ratios swinging one way to the other, usually will swing to the lean side more often then being rich.

The idle RPM does change also, but IIRC, it is usually does not change more than a one hundred to two hundred RPM's.

I have another used IAC to maybe try out or should I just try to clean mine? It has about 12,800 or so miles on it. Might be dirty?

I forgot what I need to take apart to be able to remove the IAC, do I need to remove or loosen the intercooler?

I have messed w/the throttle stop many times just to raise the idle for smog testing.

Thanks again.

What does it sound like to you guys?

If you think it may be the iac and have another one to test swap , have you tried that yet ?

Re: Tuner pro 5 tracer cell on table screen.

I think you need to find somebody in your area that knows code $59 to get your tune better starter bins are just that starter bins, they need to be custom taylored to your truck, you now have the power to do that, hope you have a fresh tune up before you started or your truck will never run right. What is done to your truck, what mods have been done, fuel pump, regulator, check timing, what thermostat temp, what injectors, what fuel pressure are you running, gap on plugs, vacuume lines checked, what plugs heat range, cap and rotor, etc.? We will be able to help you better knowing what is done to your truck.
