I am truely sorry this is taking so long. I am told that all that's left is a finish grind, then we get pushed back to the end of the line for finish grind. They made it sound like "that's all that's left"....which means, we will do YOUR finish grind in line with everyone elses finish grind. I'm learning what they "mean" when they said, "all that's left".

Just to ease everyone's mind, I will be taking pics next time I go up. Even if the finish grind is not done. Last time, they were basically all piled up in a crate waiting approval for heat treat. I should've taken pics then.

Units sent:
Bervil Hillis
Denny Ramharakh
Nolan Nykyforuk
Robert Stevenson
David Enama
Mike Bamford
Aaron Timm

This shaft turned out perfect.
There is an 8620 thrust washer integrated into the design as a "buffer" between the shoulder and where the shaft touches surrounding components at the front of the case. The material is so hard I was afraid it would abnormally wear other components. Just leave the thrust washer in place and it bolts right in.

More shafts will be sent as I get communications to/from purchaser's to be certain they have first shot at these units. I'll put up some pics as soon as I figure out what I'm doing wrong with my gallery.

I will seek financing in the future to make some other pieces.
Future products will include a billet transmission output shaft, a billet transfer case planetary and a billet transfer case output shaft.

I've learned from this project that these components don't turn up in 6-8 weeks kinda timeline. Design, then design change, then tooling, then tooling change, update design to match tooling requirements, heat treat, finish grind, polish, etc. I feel bad everyone had to wait and again, I apologize.

Re: BW4472 32 input shafts. All slots filled.

There ended up being a total of 18 shafts produced. So I'll have some for those that didn't get in on it the first time around. There were a few that contacted me and I couldn't automatically "take their money" because there was no garantee that there would be enough. If I do these again, I'll just get financing and take a bigger risk. My biggest concern with this GP was the time. The longer this spread out, the more concerned I became with community trusting me. These are here and I if you guys could post up as you receive your shafts, I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much to EVERYONE that has endured this process with me. It's more than a little stressful to say the least.

George, thanks for getting these done....I understand what an ordeal it has been on your end as I am sure everyone else does. It is people like you who go the extra mile that promote the advancement of this hobby.

I can't wait to get this thing back on the road...I have lotsa tuning to do once it is mobile again!!

Thanks for getting these done George! I know the wait has been stressful so a HUGE THANK YOU is in order.

I guess it is time for me to run to the junkyard and pull another bravada/astro transfer case!

Now if I could just find a 4l80e...

This will be fun!!!

I put the shaft in this afternoon. My shop is about 25 miles from where I live, so after I got it all together I drove it home. It hasn't even been started in a couple months so I just cruised home. I figure most of you guys know how hard it is to not beat on a turbo vehicle, but I was a good boy and didn't even do any boost launches !!

I am a little reluctant to beat on it for fear of breaking something, would like to drive and enjoy it a little. Yeah, right. I am sure tomorrow I will drive it pretty hard. The local track opens in a little over a month, I am hoping to get my bigger injectors and corresponding tuning done by then.

Re: BW4472 32 input shafts. All slots filled.

You need to examine your launch.
I can't stress enough that you cannot apply ALL of your torque at takeoff. Most launch with zero boost or a just a pound or two. NO REV limiters. Some guys are setting it up so they can smash it to the floor and boost is met and then engine cuts out and then it does it again...like a jackhammer.
Here's the best anaology a old hotrodder (Mr Neeley) told me. If you pull a chain, you can move a house. If you JERK a chain, you'll just break the chain.
Also, limit yourself to 190 to 195 pounds of WOT line pressure. Any more than that and your gonna flip the sprag or break hard parts on the 1-2 shift. If your burning up 2nd and your already running 190 psi line pressure at WOT, you need a special 2nd gear setup. It is a custom setup and actually makes it shift harder but you can run less line pressure because the TSA of the piston is bigger.
An 11 second truck shouldn't be breaking stuff. You need to examine your shift strategy. You will continue breaking stuff if you aren't using the accumulators or other techniques to firm shift I've seen. For example, some kits recommend leaving out the accumulator spring in the valvebody for firmest shift......absolutely not. Leave that sucker in there or use the springs they supply.
We thought about you over the last couple months. Your in our prayers.

I was extatic with spline engagement. NO PLAY AT ALL. This will go a LONG way in preventing "peening" and "clunking" and "shearing".

I'll be putting up a 4472 rebuild thread as soon as Renz gets back with me with the password to my gallery. Older I get, the less I remember.

I'd like to thank Big Dave for letting me use his transfer case as the basis for the tutorial. It has the big input shaft but the instructions apply to any 4472. It's step by step apart and back together. Really easy transfer case.

I am looking forward to this. I am a little nervous about pulling mine apart. With your instructions I would feel a thousand times better!

All the thanks go to you George - for all you do for this little community. Without innovators like you we would still be breaking the stage 5 trannys... (hope you get the joke)
