$5000 was just a number. When you donate, you can see the bar percentage go up and actually see you made a difference. I seriously doubt it costs $5K a year but it may take them 6 years to reach that number. I still don't see why this got people mad enough to say the things they did. The donation ability has always been here, it just seemed nice to put it up there where you could SEE what you'd donated. AND they are telling you what was donated. No secrets there.

Just made my annual donation . I'm not just a SUPER MOD, I'm a donator too :lol:! Jeez all this hubbub over an obvious bogus goal number. Makes me think of what my father used to say "Complain if they got hung with a new rope". At least making a donation to help run the site is now front and center so it's not all that bad of a thread I guess...

It takes time( nobody wants to work for free), even if you had a coke and a bag of chips while you sit in front of the computer, that's a operating cost, electricity( everybody has to pay for that) computer/hard drive...it all adds up. The mderators etc it all takes time and their efforts. $10.00 from a member is pretty cheap. It's not like we pay a yearly fee and even if it was $10.00 a year or what ever amount, it still goes to the sy/ty commmunity to keep it going.

According to the rules we can't ask people to click on the Ads links, but if you see something or many things that you might be interested in you're welcome to click on them. If google sees to many clicks in a short period of time or a lot of clicks from the same ip they will shut them down.

I apologize to anyone that has donated recently and haven't been granted the donators privileges. This system is supposed to automatically put you in the group and give you everything you're supposed to have.. it appears that if for some reason it doesn't get your email it leaves you in "unconfirmed" and we have to do it manually.. which means going to paypal and checking if the donation went through. Right now we're running on a free version of the software but we will be buying the full version today. I hope to get it installed this weekend.

We're trying to automate it so you'll get your privileges right away.

I rarely post nor do I own a sy/ty yet. But I donated to help ensure that this forum will be around in the spring when I do own a sy/ty and need some advice.

isnt this great ? even in our slumping economy with job losses across the board , the current dollar not buying what it used to , and people losing thier homes , we all can come together for the greater good of our own community and donate to help out many who we will never see or even meet !
