what do you call it when you put a paint mark on your tire and rim and after you make a run the marks no longer line up? :D

I did this last night for the heck of it as somebody told me i might want to check. harry kinda blew it off when i told him i was going to check.

made a run and i was kinda shocked to see a 3/4 inch difference in the paint mark alignment.

cool, don't really know what it means, but cool none the less.

yeah aint it.

harry was lookin at tables when i glanced at the tires:

"yo harry you aint gonna beleive ths but...."

usually he doesnt let distractions stop him when he is making adjustments but he got out to have a look when i told em. lol

Means he's making enough Hp to actually spin wheel inside the tire.....
Time for some race only wheels with beadlocks or wheel screws Ed?
Moroso makes the wheel screws.

i doubt 3/4" is much to worry about. I thought you could put small nicks on the inside of the lip to have it bite into the tires? maybe i'm thinking of something else though.

I'd be worried about 3/4" of inch. But that's just paranoid me.

you know if the wheel didn't spin in the tire you'd have made it to the quarter mile mark 3/4" sooner... that's got to be worth a millionth or so ;)

3/4" after one run is alot. time for beadlocks..

mike

i dont even know what beadlocks are!

for that matter i am wondering if i need to totally rethink my wheel tire suspension setup.

we have to launch with less and less as we do more mods and run faster.

i'm tearin up the green dots like you wouldnt beleive, the rubber is rolling off the top of the treads.

nobody has tested the green dots against any drag radials that i know of.

dont think we could heat slicks up enough to get them to hook.

havent tried moving the caltrac bars to the lower hole to change weight transfer with out lifting the front end or losing ft end traction.

but maybe one of these things i mention above could make a difference

Guess we are reaching a point were we are going to have to start doing some testing to find what the different combinations are capable of.

the power is there and then some. just a matter of finding a way to use it off the line and the 60ft would be eye openers!

its also time to start thinking about maybe if it hooks really hard with this much power will it start breaking parts, you know the tranny will hold and i assume you have some different axles but at a certain point there can be to much grip for the AWD a little slip is good, i know with rear wheel drag cars you want just a little wheel spin, like less then a rotation. you might be at the limit and adding beadlocks, screwing the bead to the rim, might actually put a lot more stress on your stuff.

with my truck we decided that leaving at idle and rolling into it was better then shocking the driveline with 800 plus hp, but 7psi at 2200 rpm is still a lot. and thats with a .96 ar on the hot side

I would try some of the mickey thompson drag radials, or BFG is coming out with a new line to compete with MT very soon. BFG has waited to release the new line b/c until recently there was no competition for them.

The suspension tuning is going take some time espeically gaining from where you are at. If you drop the bars, it may want to pick up the front end.. Your 60fts are pretty impressive, i think you just need more power. I mean probably ever truck faster then yours has a slower 60ft.

Jason's old truck (now josh's) probably leaves the most violent of anything i have seen, but thats what nitrous does.

i seem to recall seeing roberts had just gotten a 1.4x 60ft. not sure but in the video i thought i saw slicks on the rear?

as for leaving easy, how ya gonna have any fun doing that? lol :D

wonder if the transfer case is a direct swap bolt in and a couple wires.

being able to do real burnouts would add a whole new dimension to going to the track.

Waller's got a switchable t-case setup, using (I believe) a late-model Bravada unit. Electrically controlled.

There is a TSB concerning tires rotating on the wheels. It says to make sure you use the right kind of lube (no dish soap) when mounting the tires, and to wipe the lube off after the tire is over the wheel lip, before setting the bead and inflating.

that was a 1000 rpm 10 inches of vaccum 100 shot of nitrious and 36 degrees of timing. then as boost came on FP came up and basically flooded the motor, plate shot is set up for 6 psi of FP and at 20 pounds of boost that equals 26 psi of FP. i dont know why i typed all that its not relevent. it does squat the most from all the videos of other trucks i have seen but maybe with the new front springs and some limiters i can get it to leave nice and flat. I like how my friend (big dave) spanke's truck leaves it just goes forward, no squatting or anything. if your going to vegas mike you'll see him run.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
Robert has a website at http://www.syclone.org/ <for reference>
and under the gallery section, stuff for 2004, 040313-2.jpg
shows a bit of his supension mods. Cant tell if slicks were used
recently.

Maybe Ed has outgrown his suspension/Caltrac setup, and
would benefit from coilovers and 4-link set up (plus weight reduction),
alto the 60 ft times look good.

Are there drag racing radials, or slicks, that require less
pre-heating <via burnouts> than others <for awd vehicles>.
The MT`s seem to require a moderate degree of heating
(too much, and a glaze; too little and less sticking)

If the wheel turns on rim, is there danger of valve-stem cutting?

Seems like there is "more" potential when his traction problem
is solved, and maybe Matt, Robert, Mike, Josh, or others could
help suggest ideas.

wish ya the best Ed,

thanks jimmy.

yeah this has been my year of "outgrowing stuff"

so far outgrew:

cam

a2a ic

2 turbos <---thats right the gt40 is done as of last nite, i,e, we are out of air, looking to do a change here but dont know what yet. earlier this year we maxed out the pte60 and rpm a2a.

and now the tire wheel suspension and on and on :D ...... ya know i shoulda just built a quick 8 car from scratch....
