Photoshopped picture?

Looks like a good angle to me, maybe tip it a little more just so the oil dipstick doesnt get too hot.

Not a bad idea.. That may move it further away from the heat of the turbo exhaust housing as well.. I re-read the instructions and they recommend keeping it at least 4" away from any significant heat source..

Re: Photoshopped picture?

So I have everything all tacked up.. I decided to use a pipe with a bit of a bend in it.. That tilted the wastegate toward the alternator and moved it as far as possible from the turbo..

I'll be really surprised/disappointed if I don't get nearly perfect boost control with this setup...

How hot does the "head/top" of it get? Hopefully not hot enough to hurt the alt.

The top of a wastegate doesn't get very hot..

I've almost got it done.. I think I may drop the engine back in tomorrow..

My crossover tube was a bit too close to my rack and pinion for my liking so I decided to fix that while the engine was out.. I just cut the crossover, rotated both sides forward a bit, cut a piece to fill the gap, then welded it all back up..

I just need to re-powdercoat the top section of my downpipe, prime the engine, then drop it in..

I took tomorrow off of work so I shouldn't have a problem getting all of this done..

Re: Photoshopped picture?

So I repowdercoated the downpipe, put the engine back in the car, then went to put it together:

:banghead: Direct contact with the AC Evaporator housing.. :(

So I cut everything back up and moved it to where it needed to be.. That will teach me to build a part with the engine out of the truck..

This is how I left it:

Now I'm making some heat shields for the power steering pump, lines, and rack and pinion unit. I'm also slightly re-routing my crossover tube so that it clears this stuff a bit better. I'm also going to wrap the crossover tube.. With the heat shields and wrap I won't have to worry about anything getting too hot..

Re: Photoshopped picture?

So I finally made it out to Renz's and TIGed up my radiator..

Things like this were a LOT easier to do when his tig welder was in my shop..

I took the day off tomorrow and the plan is to get the truck all back together..

Where is the tell tale black spot and puddle of un-burnt fuel? Oh wait, that was my truck.
Looking good Matt.
