I've checked the "known" SYTY links. But the listed ones are to thick.
The thing is that i would like to fit the IC infront of the radiator.

I've already got one IC destroyed in when it was mounted under the car, dont want that to happen again.

2,5" is the maxximum thickness that I'm looking for.

Dequick is out of business, right?

To my knowledge no one makes a Front mount intercooler for our trucks. If you want one, you have to make it yourself. There has been successful attempts with the Saab 9000 intercooler in front of the radiator.

you can check with bell intercoolers, as i know spearco doesnt have any good thin cores anymore. Back before Spearco was purchased by Turbonetics they offered a very efficient 2" thick core which fit perfect in front of our radiators.

However you need to know what you are buying. Most of these intercoolers people are using have little or no data. For example, if you look in the spearco catalogue you will find an intercooler that measures the entire front end of the truck. One would lead you to believe that this core is perfect. Then you look at the flow numbers, the efficiency, and the pressure drop and you find out that the intercooler core sucks, and is rated to 350hp.

So before you buy a core which looks good, do some research and find one that you know will work then figure out a way to make it fit.

Re: A/A IC Links.

this is the core that I am currently installing on my truck - it is big and needs some work to make it fit. without A/C it would fit fine but I am keeping the A/c so extra work for me.

24x12x3 with 2.5 in and out - 900 cfm tested 30 psi with minimal pressure drop.

this is the link for the place I got the core from - I had an issue finding this same core with 2.5 in and out as all of my pipes are 2.5" this is what I found and I am making it work.

hope this helps

Re: A/A IC Links.

It was a year ago since I did my building on my A2A kit so my memory can be wrong but if you dont go with a too wide intercooler cell you can prob make it fit infront of the AC condesor. Too wide and mounted infront of the condensor may interfer with the grill since the grill has a v-shape to it.
You have to cut out the hood lock support for sure.

Jer is running one he scored from eBay right now, I guess with pretty decent results.....maybe he'll chime in and explain his setup.

Re: A/A IC Links.

I thought that by the looks of things that I could get away with fitting my air 2 air without notching the rad support, I was wrong - not only did I have to make room for my endtanks with the ends of the grill - the rad support needed to be trimmed for my 2.5" pipes and transitions.

after notching the grill out where the end tanks sit & cutting the rad support a bit so the a2a would fit in , I still had clearance issues with the grill and the bumper.

I decided to notch into the rad support 2 allow me the extra 1" to sit back the lower part of the intercooler so the grill and bumper would fit properly. This worked out perfectly as the intercooler and the piping is all concealed and my setup worlked out just the way I planned. I still have room for all of my a/c components.

. After a long day of welding pipes and cutting the a2a fits perfect. The pipes came out perfect and I can't wait to dyno and tune my truck and see what I will put down....

As soon as my truck is finished I will take pictures of my setup and lend a hand to anyone else looking to do the same setup.

anyone interested in doing the same setup be prepared to make things work, depending on how you run your pipes, will show how much cutting and custom fitting you will need 2 do to make this work.

I have not driven it yet but I know that it will be worth all of the work.

Re: A/A IC Links.

The Ford Power stroke IC also fits in front of the rad.
Not sure with or without AC.
I think thats the core Servando used on his Sy.

I'd love to see a detailed write up on fitting ANY FMIC with A/C.
I am not afraid to cut my truck up to get it to fit but I have to keep the A/C.

Re: A/A IC Links.

loeryder, are you wanting info on a fmic that mounts in front of the rad with a/c still or a fmic that mounts where the factory h/e is with a/c still? i have the later on my truck and it works real well

Re: A/A IC Links.

In front of Radiator, FMIC.
The stock location isn't really front mounted IMHO.

Already have an oversized dequick CCHE under the bumper, but when I go A/A I dont want my core blocked by the bumper like that anymore.

Re: A/A IC Links.

this is the core I used

24x12x3 with 2.5 in and out
900cfm
less than .02 presure drop

Trimming the inside of the grill for the endtanks
Notching the rad support for clearance for the pipes

Looks great behind the grill, Just takes a bit of love and you can get it in there perfect. no pics yet will post as soon as my truck is finished.

Did you ever finish up the A2A? If so, lets see some pics

Re: A/A IC Links.

Well i recently bought a FMIC designed for a Buick GN and it seems to fit pretty good, and i think it will still leave room for the a/c condensor once its all in and mounted. The core suuport will need to be trimmed and cut out for cleanence, but basically im going to have the in and out on the bottom with the FMIC recessed into the factory rad cutout in the core support. Im thinking it wil be a nice and clean install once its all said and done.
