2 step time?

Re: 2 step time?

I don't think the waste gate was even opening like that. I use a blitz sbc electronic and a tial waste gate and only use the side port. Mine is this, turbo nipple on compressor- control box- side port on waste gate. You could try that. If you apply boost to the top port I think it puts pressure on it to keep it from opening.

So what do you have in the top port?

I know it wont let it open. That was the whole point in doing it. This is why I think the spring might be too weak because it doesn't really seem to want to stay closed enough to give me any real boost.

Re: 2 step time?

top port is open. Like I said try it, just ease into the throttle and watch boost to see where it starts and stops.

Re: 2 step time?

Hey I got one semi correct for a change.:rotf: I mentioned earlier that the WG might be the issue.

Now get the WG working correctly before you over boost and break something.

Yeah that didn't work. I think the spring is lame. I am going to start trying to find another stiffer spring.

Re: 2 step time?

Your engine build is fine, as is everything else you did. Its really hard to build a motor that just won't build boost. Your spring is a good place to look. Your afr's are actually a bit lean for meth (from what I've had luck with anyway) your timing could come up a bit as well, which will bring power from your lower boost.

Re: 2 step time?

It didnt work or it didnt give the results you were looking for?

Results breh. But with a possible crappy spring int here, what could I really expect you know? I say **** it, I am just going to buy a whole new wastegate with springs. I was looking at the PTE 39mm. Comes with like 5 springs and costs $250. Looks like a nice unit. I am so tired of buying crap that ends up having no support or the company goes out of business. I don't see PTE going anywhere any time soon.

Re: 2 step time?

Just picked mine up. Hoping to get it started sometime this week. Looks like a well built and great quality unit.

Re: 2 step time?

Yes I got the 39mm.

5 springs come with the WG as you said-

-Small natural 1.5psi spring
-Medium yellow 3psi spring
-Medium red 6psi spring
-Large green 9psi spring
-Large blue 18psi spring

The Red and Green Spring were already installed in the WG which is 15psi base pressure, which is fine for me and will control the rest with a Boost conroller.

Re: 2 step time?

More good news! Went to ace, bought a thicker longer spring, cut it to size and I am now getting 25psi and can control it down to 15psi. Looks like the spring was the issue. I also replaced my greddy solenoid with a grainger unit which is VERY nice. Now I am needing to continue my boost tuning so I can get it safe to run and head back to the dyno to hopefully make more than 300 hp.

Re: 2 step time?

Good news Mike! What you've done here is renewed my interest in dynoing (is that a word?) mine. Let us know what happens.
