You can use the stock dipstick tube but you will have to drill and tap a mounting hole for it. I'd suggest using the 96'+ dipstick and tube if you want a factory look and don't want to drill another hole that could possible cause a leak.

I picked up the one for a 93 today. It doesn't even come close to fitting, even with bending. I don't have any stock heads laying around, can someone tell me in relation to the front exhaust port where the bolt hole is for the dipstick? Its all the way towards the front on the 96' vortec heads.

Thanks for the heads up. I did spend some time on the intake ports. I didn't get any pictures of it though. Takes to long to work, snap pick, work, etc... The water ports seem to match up pretty well. I had to modify the gasket a bit. I *think* it will seal. Time will tell.

Go with the vortec's. Its not that hard. Talk to John or a machine shop. I have done both and if I had to do it over again I would have just done the vortec's in the first place. I spent way more money on the stock heads getting them worked over and ported and they still flow less than a stock...
