Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

yeah its got an adjustable panhard bar from the pass side frame to driver side axle tube , i did get it drivable .

turns out the external filter on the tranny was messing up the pressure . $3 fitting to bypass the filter housing solved my 8 month tranny problem . i only pulled the trans twice looking for issues . i was a little mad when i figured that out . thats why i went right to the rear ladder kit , getting my stuff ready for nats .

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Took it to the track for the first time. Ran a consistent 13.5 @ 97MPH with a best time of 13.4 @ 99MPH. For a pretty stock truck I'm happy with that...

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

I got a few things done on the Sy yesterday. First and foremost, I got rid of the stupid 5" exhaust tip that was on it. Once that was gone, I took the spare tire and spare tire hanger out, and built a hitch for it. It turned out awesome! It bolts right to the frame, on both sides, through the same holes as the rear bumper brackets. The reciever is welded to the bottom of the cross bar, and that lined it up perfectly with the center of the license plate opening, which is what I was going for. The only thing that I didn't really like about it, is that I had to take the box off(well, just lifted it up a little) to slide the hitch in the back of the frame. Of the 6 bolts that hold the box on, I took the back 4 out, and just lossened the front 2. Picked the box up a couple inches with a floor jack and a piece of wood, and slid the hitch in there. Trimmed a nice square hole in the rear bumper support and cover, and I'm ready to go!

Finished installing a poly tank, New FSU, better battery hold-down, and 1/0 ground cable to the front.

The FSU ring could be much better if it was just a ring the size of the tabs "round". This would prevent the rubber from trying to pop out from the sides and prevent rotation of the FSU due to the lack of a recess for the alignment tabs. I should have taken some measurements and whipped up something on Solidworks.
If someone has a Waterjet you just need the inner diameter of the FSU and the diameter of the recess on the poly tank or measure bolt to bolt and add a bit. Then make the tab recess for FSU alignment and it'd be perfect! I was too busy to do it, maybe next time.

I'm missing the final image, but their are four threaded hooks that go to two plastic adjustable hold-down handle looking things. You can see two grounds in the 5th image. One big 1/0 going to the engine bay where the original neg is, and one small one going to the bolt in the back of the bumper.

I turned the key on and off three times (w/o starting) to prime the pump (I was too lazy to jump the pump ) and it started right up the first time! No tricks or anything! Fuel level looks good. I put @15Gal of gas in it and the arrow was near the top. Before it was stuck a bit lower than 1/2 way.

I love it when a plan comes together. :)
All I need to do tomorrow is put the cover back on the tank. Good times! :D

That's exactly what I want to do to my ZR2 (daily driver). Nice mod!

It was raining today, so I put another coat of wax on the Sy. I think I'm up to 37 now... :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

OK i just finished replacing the motor mounts ( what a b*****d they are ) it took me 12 f*****g hours, but i was on my own witch didn't make it easy :(. I also fitted one of the tiedowns i got off nallj92 to hopefully make the mounts last longer. Before anyone says I'm mad for not going to solid mounts it was because i hate vibration and as i use it a lot i didn't want to take the risk.

I think now Ive done it once i could probably do it in about 8 to 9 hours next time, and yes i know there will be a next time:roll:

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Set the timing after doing intake manifold gaskets last week. Also replaced and hot-wired IC pump, replaced hard IC lines with rubber hose through passenger fender. Replaced the PerTronix Ignition Module that went dead after about 500 miles. For the first time since owning the truck I was able to do a 0 to 75 mph run at full boost without the ECM pulling timing or cutting fuel. It runs fantastic now. Idle is almost perfect. I think I have finally worked out all the gremlins, for now. So far since buying the truck in September I have replaced the intake manifold/TB gaskets, new plugs/wires/cap+rotor/coil, 2 ignition modules, vacuum line kit from GP, IC pump/hot-wire/lines, EGR solenoid, boost control solenoid, changed all fluids, reset the timing since I got it with it 4 deg. off, replaced the KB chip with a stock memcal (immediately after purchase), maybe some other small stuff.

Truck has not started for a while.
Replaced the litterally desintergrated MSD dist cablepins that connects to and the awfully corroded ingnmodule.
Got it fired up and washed the truck. Took it to work today. All smiles :)

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Showed a little love to the interior today.... When I bought it 2 years ago, the leather was a little crispy especially the shifter boot. It was really stiff... So I am soaking the seats and boot again in leather conditioner.. It has seemed to work in the past and soft again. SO with Summer coming up soon. I am just doing it now while I remember and have the time..
