Re: NEW 1992 Typhoon... what's it worth.

Some info for you guys...
The paint code for Bahama Blue is WA 9656
Light French Blue (another "unicorn" truck) - WA 9264
Ultra Sliver (yet another) - WA 8867

I don't know if those will be useful to you or not, elvisinturn1, but since we don't have VINs for these trucks, that's the best I can do.

Here's my Royal Blue VIN: 1GDCT18Z6P0811952 <- Not 100% sure on the check digit.
1992 Radar Blue VIN: 1827
1993 Radar Blue VIN: 2181

I don't know the check digits for either of those last two.

Edit: I'll throw another rare one in here for kicks:
1992 Raspberry: 1782

BRING A CAMERA!

You have no idea... once the SyTy production run was done, they were spit on and thrown out to be forgotten. Speaking with Kim Neilson, it was a project brought up to see if it could be done for kicks, it worked to some degree, and it was gone just as fast.

The only reason why they still have a place in history is because of the owners who care enough about these trucks who fight to earn the respect we always deserved.

LOL.. come see "the wharehouse" youself. They give tours once a year, but no cameras.

Hmm.. I'll see what paint codes come up under the platform. I'll then be able to tell you what colors where what, when, how many, and how many are left out there still registered in the system(been serviced by dealers.)

We are uncertain that "Bahama Blue" was a production color, and possibly just a myth..... or possibly a truck or 2 was painted this color. From what Ive read/heard, its supposed to be sort of a sky blue color.
It's a little bit lighter than Royal Blue, and it has a lot of metalflake in it ;)

They might tell me to have you contact so and so and buy it to get rid of it. They always do things weird like that. Someone has to deal with it and the less headache the better.

I might have a pristine low mileage Typhoon for sale soon.... might be funding a new headache

LMAO.. I've got like 14 PM's. Slow down guys, damn. I can't do anything until Mondays anyway.

I am one of the few that can help on all accounts. I've already done much work on my own. been to the warehouse many times.

I've been looking for someone with your kind of database access. I'm curious how deep it goes.

It's kinda like touring the White House. You can do whatever you want, just don't touch anything, and don't go in any rooms the tour doesn't take you into. But still no cameras.

I'll see if I can snag some pics for ya when I go back down there. It's downtown. As far as auctions, i'll see what I can come up with on that one, but who knows. You never know. They might tell me to have you contact so and so and buy it to get rid of it. They always do things weird like that. Someone has to deal with it and the less headache the better.

Scott Settlemeyer is the man to talk to about buying GM owned vehicles. They all have to go to auction.

I am friends with one of the original concept engineers that worked for Triad , his name is Mack King. I'm sure if they would be willing to give anyone access it would be one of the guys that actually designed these trucks. It would be nice to at least find out what is going to be done with these trucks, auctions, etc. I'd be willing to meet up (I'm in the Dearborn area) anytime to get info, take pics, etc. Don't be surprized by the overwhelming response to the info you can share, its been a long time waiting for this to come along and I won't bother you with my 3 trucks...... yet. :D Get the white one or I might have to.

Yeah, that's changed a little bit. For the "one off should've been destroyed but ended up at auction" vehicles call:

No kidding. I'm feeling the same way myself.

In regards to the original question, it's worth whatever the buyer will pay for it. I'm sure there are some enthusiasts with deep pockets that would be willing to shell out quite a bit for a 9-mile Ty. IMO, this couldn't have been offered for sale at a better time (for you), because I think SyTys are done depreciating, and will only be going up in value, ultra low-mile examples included. My ball-park guess on what it would go for would be in the $38k-$45k range. If it were a rarer colour, you'd get a lot of offers for left nuts. If you intend to keep it, I think it's investment-worthy.

I'm curious about the gold decals. Are you sure it's a '92? Gold decals came on '93s from the factory. Perhaps since he was on the design team, he requested that this one be made with gold decals, since they do look better on white (IMO). By the way, is the cladding white as well, or is it grey?
