So, I'll post up a quick something I found out today at work. I had limited access because of the weekend, but here's what I found:

There IS a 'unicorn" truck. But, it has NOTHING to do with the paint color. It has to do with the drive train. What it entails, I don't know, but there are 2 of them. Both manufactured in sequence. I can't find out more until Monday about that.
I would bet money that they are the Syclone Challenge trucks.I mean c'mon,if you are going to showcase the trucks at the dragstrip, why not send in a couple of ringers.

Haha. Maybe washere could comment on that. I was thinking of the rumored late '93 Tys with L35 heads, at least one of which ended up with a PAS employee...

Seeing as how this is the most active thread I've ever seen on this forum I doubt that was necessary... but appreciated none the less.

hey elvisinturn1 owns a BMW, and I work on them.

I own a Typhoon, and he works for GM

Lucky!

This entire thread brings to mind a quote Ronald Reagan once said; "Trust but Verify". I'm hopeful elvisinturn1 can produce some quantitative answers tomorrow or Tuesday regarding SyTy's because Merk, Adam and a host of others are eagerly awaiting the information.......and me too! This is the kind of thread that makes a hungry dog growl :).

Re: NEW 1992 Typhoon... what's it worth.

I really think everyone needs to let elvis get the overall information that we have been missing for years..

then, and only then, should people consider asking him to check out their individual trucks.

OK this could be a great find. However lets not wear out our welcome and be organised.

1st We should have a spoke person or two, Merk and Adam (SYO237) already have tons of knowledge about SyTy documentation.

Here is a list of all SyTy colors. Lets get a list of known VIN for all these colors. I can easily figure out the check digit if its a normal VIN and I have the last four digits. If I missing any colors, let me know. I will go through this and grab the other VIn/Colors

1991 Syclone

Midnight Black/Matte Black 1GDCT14Z1M8802661

1992 Typhoon 1GDCT18Z N081

Radar Blue/Radar Blue (Test color) 1GDCT18ZXN0812181
The check digits missing in the Sonoma GT VIN# 's both happen to be "9"
Kinda wierd but there are only 10 to choose from and you happen to get two the same.

BTW... I think this is the best post for getting the ball rolling on our missing information. As much as I'd like to get the info on my GT's I probably should have been a little more patient. We've all waited this long... another month or so can't hurt.

If anyone else has some of the missing VINs for the different colors POST THEM. I can figure the missing check digit if needed. SyTy's all have identical VIN's as well right? xcept for the fheck digit and prod. number. Maybe Sportmachines can provide a couple of the missing colors?

Re: NEW 1992 Typhoon... what's it worth.

Hey Everyone

Lets go ahead and let Elvis answer what we have now, because hes already been hit with a load of questions and tasks. After all, he just quietly came to ask a value of a truck, not thinking he was going spill all of GM/PASs secrets

After that, on his own time he could go further and do personalized VINs and truck history for everyone.

This has been a great thread and definatley one to eventually go into the vault. Lets let Elvis get settled. Hes already been welcomed with open arms, lets keep him coming back and make this a fun thing instead of like work and keeping him slammed.

The excitment is awesome.... its pretty cool to see enthusiasm again that I havent seen in years.

In an effort to help fill in some of the missing VINs posted by dgoodhue, here's my VIN, it's a 92 Ty, Midnight Black/Black.

I'm gonna set this thread as my HOME PAGE! *snicker*

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

Very cool thread!! elvis, would you happen to know who might have been the casting foundry for the syty exhaust manifolds? If not, it sounds as if you could find out.......Our passenger side manifolds are cracking.....Perhaps if they still have the plug laying around, they could whip up a few more pass. exhaust manifolds as a g.p. here......Welcome to syty.net man  ....

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

I'm diggin this thread, can't wait for the info...Props to Dave G for using my truck for the '93 Black/Black example...

BTW Merk you mentioned Custom Automotive Services up in MI, is that the place John Moss used to hang around? I can remember meeting with him at a shop up there right off of a main road, it has 3 lanes in both directions if I remember correctly. In the back was huge shop with all one off SEMA cars/trucks and stuff. They had everything in there. I about passed out... Best part was they let us take some of them out for rides, they all had M plates on em, of course they had an employee ride with us. I drove the Silverado SS concept there, was a brownish color regular cab. They had a red 2 door blazer with a vortech supercharger on it, they kept saying it was the next typhoon or typhoon 2 (IMO it was slow). My favorite ride of the day was the Hurst Edition Firebird. Black with gold stripes. It had a worked over LS1 with the 6 speed. Full roll-cage and harness. It was the last ride for the day and the poor guy that got stuck with almost sh!t his pants. We went down that road at about 110, should of seen the face on Moss when I pulled back into the lot

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

Ok, well after reading through all 8 pages of this thread, one comment has popped in my mind and that is, if youre not here to provide any facts or information, please do not post. Im sure everyone is eager to find out information on SyTy, but considering its already on page 8 and its not really even Monday yet........we either need to ease up on the chit-chat or some serious pruning is gonna be happening.

Now to get on with some information, having seen both Adam and Tim provide VINs for 2 possible Raspberry Ty, I went ahead and figured out the check digit and complete VIN for both these trucks.

Adam 92 Raspberry/Raspberry 1GDCT18Z7N0811312

Tim 92 Raspberry/Raspberry 1GDCT18Z0N0811782

Hopefully one or even both yields to be a Raspberry, I guess we'll find out.

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

How about the 92 Syclones. I took the pictures of the 1992 with 2 miles on it. I also have the VIN. 1GTDT14Z2N8500001. How did it end up in Auburn, NY?

Re: SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!

WOW ! You guys got my head spinning. Anyways, let me post up some info. while I'm gathering info. from you (VIN's) to do my snooping. lol.

For the guys looking for parts, electrical connectors, ect. Start with these sites FIRST prior to sending me emails and PM's

http://service.gm.com

www.gmtechlink.com

https://www.gmsupplypower.com

Those 3 sites will give you a TON of information. You'll be able to download all microfiche and service manuals for your vehicle, along with all technical bulletins ever released. I talked to the IT guy about giving the "forum" a permanent user name and password so you can grab info. at will. Even without the password, you can get a ton of information off those sites. I'm hoping to have the "forum" password and everything set up today.

*Note, you guys HAVE TO BEHAVE on these sites I'm giving you access to. These are dealer/supplier sites so be careful and don't touch what you shouldn't. You will be able to have all the information that dealers have, plus some additional engineering info. Everything is in PDF format. But, we are going to limit some access for you guys. This is why I'm waiting on IT to help me out.

Wow. That's awesome. If IT would rather not give a semi-public access to info/documents....there are plenty of us around here that host websites that we could somewhat mirror the contents that we're allowed to have access to - gauranteeing that the snooping just doesn't happen. If you think this is a better way to share this info, please let me know and I can set up a website to house all of the information you are so graciously sharing with us.

Thanks!

I would have no problem mirroring information, or mirroring it securely. Bandwidth and diskspace are not an issue.

Or access to the website could be a donating members kinda thing. That would stop the general public form misuising it.

Man, that shattered windshield and rust on a truck with 2 miles saddens me! Have you knowledge of any other 92's in existence? Regardless, you're very fortunate to have come across this one.
