Syclone Theory?

Around here we have a theory. There can only be so many trucks running in one area at once.

For example between the me and the 2 other guys close to me we have 5 trucks. Usually when one truck breaks another will run and vice versa.

Over christmas I picked up sy #308 and been driving it daily now. Yesterday a local (Will)blew up his tranny, which so happens to be the same day Jeremy got his truck running again from new valve seals, etc. I have Daron's truck here still, which runs also. So out of 5 trucks 3 are running or 60%.

Anybody else notice this same thing? At this rate the other local guys are in trouble if I get all 3 trucks at my house running or another syty moves in to town.

Doesnt Darron's truck always run though? The real test would to make the other 4 trucks bullet proof, and see if Darron's will break.

Re: Syclone Theory?

Jeff's rule works at my house. If I get the Sy running the Ty will break. It never fails. Thats why I just quit working on the Sy. :rotf:

If Renz were in your area it would skew your results a little...

Re: Syclone Theory?

Jeremy just called, I have the only running syclone in the area right now.

WAHOO!!!

Now the question is I know how to fix jeremy's and is an easy fix, if I do though my chances of breaking go up. hmm.

Re: Syclone Theory?

Well technically Todd and I are also in your area (Indiana), and at least 50% of our trucks run  . I think Gerber is on a 50% rate as well with his two Typhoon's.

I think my truck would run even better (maybe 130%) if someone spent more time in their fabrication shop, and I could bring up the group average to maybe 70%

with my personal colection of 3 it's 66%

but if you include customer trucks needing work it goes down to 42%.

Re: Syclone Theory?

I guess there is a something good about living in the middle of no where. My Sy and the other one in the area get driven very little but both are 100% operational.

Works for me:tup:

Re: Syclone Theory?

well, in northern nj.. every sy/ty that I know of, runs.

both my sy and ty runs, (even though sy is in pieces)
tim's ty runs
derek's ty runs
the green/green around here runs
the white/white around here runs
black/black around here runs

there are more in the area, i just never see them or can never get them to stop to talk to them.

hell I only know of 1 syclone in my area that doesn't run, and i've never seen it.. supposedly its owned by a tech at a local GM dealership, the machine shop that cleaned up the heads for my pickup was building a motor for the truck, supposedly the 3rd one that has been in it.

Mine has been on jackstands up front since this past weekend. She starts and runs now after the plugs and wires, but there's a god-awful tapping sound that I have to find before I button her up. I should be back up by Saturday at the latest.

Well, I only know of two in my state, and only one runs (hint, not mine  ). One in VT that runs, one I saw on autotrader in Maine that runs... I guess my truck can't be finished until I break one of those? :rotf:

DFW has 2 down for rebuilds (Rudy/Tyler), then 2 moved, not sure who else is broken/running in dfw. I think i am ahead of Tyler though.

Crap I think the theory may just be right, I pulled off my wheels to do plugs/wires and inspect/clean up the engine bay... BOTH axle shafts are spraying grease out of the outer joints and my valve cover has started leaking. This after Adam actually driving his syclone yesterday for the first time in half a year or so. Bah.
