sad day..

So my dad has my syclone over at his house, cause it needs some trani work before I can drive it. It's been sitting for a while and he had lent it to a friend (before the trani was busted) and somehow his friend lost a wheel cap. So I bought a new wheel cap and it needed the lettering to be red.

Well, I peeled the clear coat and got it all ready for painting and then decided to use another cap to match the red, just so it would match the others. My dad brings over one of the caps and what do I find?

The previous owner of the truck (before my dad) had some guy get rid of the machined finish.. AGH! So now I have one cap with machine finish, and three without it. I'm sure It wont be noticeable at all from a little distance.. but it's going to bug me! :rant:

If anyone has three normal wheel caps they'd like to trade for my DE-machined caps (lol) let me know!

Are the wheels still machine finish? If not then I would just sand down your new cap to match the others and the wheels..

HUH? If your Sy is at your Dad's placed because it needs tranny work, how can it be driven? Or, if it is not busted why has it been sitting for a while? And how can he lend your Sy to a friend if it has been sitting a while? Last, why would your Dad even lend out your Sy in the first place? Just curious:rotf:

lol, do you mean how did he get the cap to my house? He has an Explorer. He just took the cap off the Sy, it's been sitting for a while because his friend that he lent it to blew the tranny (and the crossover air tube.) The guy pretty much treated it like crap. The Sy is still driveable, but only barely. Apparently it just takes it a long time to find gears. lol
And I have NO idea why he lent it to him.. I wish he hadn't though.

I'm not sure, I'll have to check next time I get to see them. How do you sand something like that?

you are going to have to sand the machineing groves out off for it to match. It is not hard start with some course wet sand paper and then move up to finner paper. start with something in the 200 grit range and finish up with 1500 or so.

Cool, that's do-able. One question though, how does wet sand paper make a difference? Sorry if this is a no-brainer, but I've never learned how it's different.

it does cause your going to sand it with water on it. most super fine sand paper is wet sand paper anyways.

it helps eliminate scratches
