I will repeat:

If it arrives by Friday, I will close the dispute. However, in light of the three issues I am entitled to give neg feedback.

1 - Shipment wasn't even attempted until 8 days after I paid.

2 - Communication was poor

3 - I now have 3 supposed dates for the item having been shipped. One e-mails says it was sent on the 9th, another says you sent it on the 12th and yesterday I found out it didn't go until the 15th. This was only because I spoke with Mike.

If you had said that there were delays then I can appreciate that, but I have been told 3 times now that it has been shipped when it blatantly hasn't.

You could have told me that you hadn't shipped it. I would have been pissed, but at least I would believe you. As it was, I had to find out second hand.

How do you explain that? What do you suggest I do?

I will wait until Friday before asking for my money back. After all, I have waited 3 weeks since payment for this.

I hardly think I am being unreasonable.

Re: ripped off

Dont feel too bad about this. I had a friend who needed parts and I was the only one who could find them for him. I accidently screwed up the address in which I was shipping the money to.. Took 3-4 days or so to get back to me, I changed the address to the right one, told the guy what had happened and I was sorry, added another $10 to the price because of my **** up to make him happy as he was pissed that he didnt get the money within that week.(we're talking.. $30 here.. ). But still decided to leave the neg feedback.

If I had known I was going to get neg feedback because of something that stupid, I would have just canceled the deal. All for $30.

Re: ripped off

I recently bought a part from one of the vendors here, had my wife send the check. Vendor didnt recognize the name and didnt associate letter with transaction. We both sorta were like uh... what is up.
Turns out he had the check and everything in the envelope but didnt think to open it, or something.
Was no biggie and my part got to me once we figured it out. Hopefully Mike gets/finds the part soon...

Before you label a business, allow me to inform you (and the rest of our group) of a fact within the postal system since I am employed with them as a window clerk and sales associate. FedEx, UPS and DHL (DHL comes on M,W,and F) ALL conduct drop shipments on our loading dock for local delivery of their packages and pick up large packages for shipment from our facility. At the bulk distribution center in Nashville, the USPS system packages that we transport with over -the-road contract assets are transported to the Air Mobility Center at Nashville IAP for upload on aircraft.....owned and operated mainly by FedEx. It is a multi-billion dollar business of which I get very little :). The transport of mailed items is multi-faceted and who is at fault for a loss....who knows. Yes, it does occur though not often but trust me, IF a item is properly packaged and labelled, we can track it internally to it's exact location, even if that is the dead mail facility in Atlanta, GA. Bottom line is when you use a private company, over 1/2 of their packages go through the USPS for delivery. Just thought you might want to know so you can re-assess your criticism

Re: ripped off

T-Bone is 100% on the money. Also bet you didn't know that common carriers such as Connential, Northwest Airlines etc. also handle not only "overload" but "bulk contract" for every delivery company in the world... including USPS, UPS / FED X and ALL the rest. Also statisicly speaking, USPS has a better damage record than all of the other delivery companies. UPS and FED X are actully the worst for damage claims. None are easy to deal with but I bet T-Bone will also tell you that a post office can issue a refund on the spot for loss & damage up to $300 (I think), ha... try that with UPS or FED X. I had a corprate account with UPS and had so much damage in a one year period that when they ran over a $3,000 dollar insured box with a forklift and had 7, I repeat 7 different reasons that it was not their fault and refused to pay, I had to ake them to court and sue them (they lost btw).

In contrast, I have done an average of $40,000 + per year with USPS every year for the last 5 years and had 4 lost and 9 damaged (I had my shipping manager pull the files today) and NOT ONE DENIED / UPAID CLAIM. Those of you here on the board that sell to me and buy from me know that I will only ship via USPS and will only receieve packages via USPS. You can't pay me to use UPS or FED X due to cost and unpaid damage.... period. I request USPS because I pay for it and the INSURANCE, I know that if the package is lost or damaged it will be covered even if I have to get involved to follow through and if it's a high dollar package (not sure, over $250 I think, T-Bone prolly knows) the Postal Inspector, F.B.I. and or the I.G. will be involved too  . Oh and claims with the USPS can be filed from the sender or receiver, again.. try that with the others1

Re: ripped off

Interesting.

Where we are at is as follows:

If there is no intake by tomorrow morning, Dameon has said he will ship another to RPM.

I have offered to make up the difference in the shipping price - $320 was what I paid, so if it costs $350 via UPS or FEDEX then I will pay an extra $30. This was my offer - I have not heard if it has been accepted by Dameon but it seems more than reasonable to me. I'll pay that if and when it arrives at RPM.

I see a lot of people standing up for Dameon on here - why have they not left positive feedback for him? I saw only 3 positives on his feedback and that is all I have to go off.

If the other one turns up then Mike@RPM will buy it for $250. If as you say you can get an instant refund from USPS for $250 so this should see no-one out of pocket apart from the initial shipping costs, to be borne by Dameon/Tom.

I must point out that I did not specify which shipping method to be employed for the part to RPM - I was offered $320 shipped with no specification of shipping method. I accepted but so far I have had nothing.

I still want to know why I was told it had shipped 3 times, rather than that it would ship. That remains my biggest gripe.

I hate flame threads as they seem very puerile but equally buyers should know what goes on to other board members. Que sera sera.

I am optimistic this will work out then perhaps this whole thread can be deleted by a mod or something.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Re: ripped off

Again, I am very sorry for this not shipping sooner. In any case if we used UPS ground it would have been around 5 days to get from Central NY to Cali. Maybe Tom (BBW808) will chime in with his response. Like I said on those other dates, Tom told me that it would ship. Then our mutal friends fathers died :( don't know if the intake was insured or not, I do know it didn't have delivery conformation. If that intake doesn't make it there by Today, which it should, let me know. Yesterday Tom and I tried many many times to get in touch mike. I left a message for him to call me on my work or my cell phone if he received it.

Maybe T-Bone can assure you that the package will arrive there by today or not. It was shipped with 2-day Priority, because we knew we were late on the shipping.

T-Bone, let me also ask you another question. Is it possiable to track this package with the info below?

Re: ripped off

I think its about time for me to chime in. I really can't stand flame posts, especially ones that escalate to unecessary levels, and could be handled in a much more professional manner.

Without getting too much into the frivolous detials, here's the facts:

Yes you paid on Oct1. Dameon told you that it would be shipped by oct 8th because that is what I told him. Between work and obilgations I figured that would give me plenty of time to package and ship your item. I got busy that week, and was going to pack and ship it out on Sat 10/6. Unforturantely my friend died early that morning, so that day was out, as were the next few due to wakes, funerals and helping the family. I saw this as a much higher priority than your intake, and other parts that were awaiting shipment. Thought I would have an opportunity to send it later that week, and that is what I told Dameon, and why he gave you the second date. That didn't happen, and it got pushed to monday morning 10/15. It went out, 2 day priority, to Mike/RPM's po box. Figured with their move and all, it would be the safest place to ship to. I spoke with Mike... he has not checked his PO Box all week, hence why there has been no confirmation that you lower intake is there. He assured me that he would check it this afternoon and confirm that your lower intake is there, and in all actuality has been there since wed. About the time that you started all of the bashing.

I can understand and assimilate to your frustration with being given a few different dates. But the overall impact, given all of the factors, is nothing really. Even if the item was shipped on the 8th as we originally were planning on, it would have went out via ground, because that is what was paid for, and that would have taken 6-8 days and would have been in the exact same time frame. If for some reason it isn't there, and was confirmed, we would have stood behind our word, and sent out another one. Our reputation on this site and with many of the members which we have forged friedships is far more valuable to us than the price of an intake.

I hope this helps clarify this situation, and that we can move on to more important things.

EXTREME lack of accurate information on the VENDORS part. BUYER sent you money in good faith and was given incorrect info for weeks.

wow, i guess compassion and understanding is out the door if you are a vendor? a friend died, death isn't something anyone can predict or expect.. I guess having a part in hand is more important than the life of a friend!?

i think B&M did the right thing, and hopefully everything will get ironed out and this thread can get deleted.

Re: ripped off

1 week delay in shipping really is not a fair amount to complain about. Being given 3 different "ship dates" is frustrating, but at the same time the "ship dates" are all w/in a week of each other. This isn't drawn out over months like some people have led others around here for AFTER already having paid.

how hard it it to give accurate info? is that being uncompassionate? most people will bend over backwards to help others in those situations. he sounded understanding...and just wanted to know when to expect his part or at least shipping status. he was given INCORRECT information..multiple times.

Re: ripped off

ashman,
he's saying that "nothing" is the difference in when the part actually showed up in CA when comparing how it would have shipped originally, and how it shipped a few days late.

I think the point here is that 1 week does not justify being RIPPED OFF. Vendor admitted the dates got screwed up...and explained why. Human error. The vendors supporting this group aren't Summit Racing w/ 1000+ employee and 24/7 operations....to stir up this much crap over 1 week is absurd.

Re: ripped off

keeping in mind that these guys have been very open that this is a hobby/second income
and life and jobs have priority, which seems right, and a little bit of "broken telephone" took
a whole week with 1 death, and a move among 3 ppl. I would be messed up big time if
close friend died and work and hobbys would defiantly take a back burner.. for longer than
a week with a note to those concerned of course. It seems that the incorrect dates were
more "important" than anything else. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but most of us have learned
that shit does happen and if you jump to conclusions too soon... it will bite ya in ass.

this was in my blog from a few years ago but I drag it out from time to time
Waiting for something.. no matter what the outcome.. can be worse than the outcome itself.
All the insecurities, the second guessing and the worst case scenarios must also be tempered
with positive thoughts and reasoning. I have found in the past, as now, panic first then slow down
and think it through .... then panic for real if it is called for. Recent events have proven time and time
again that we do have the information we need to reach a conclusion. We need to breath, give
our head a shake and move forward until the waiting is over. Any other reaction is uninformed,
dangerous to those involved and just a waste of quality of life.

i'm in complete agreement that 1 week is nothing to complain about. my complaint is with the communication from the vendor. really it's not just this vendor...there have been a rash of threads lately that could have be avoided if the vendor/seller could have just provided information to the buyer.

one in particular...buyer sends money for item X. seller accepts money and doesn't log onto the board OR provide any information for ~3 weeks. and the seller couldn't understand why the buyer was po'd.

this is a small group and most of the vendors do an excellent job but, they have to understand that the buyer puts HUGE trust into this electronic system we have.

this particular buyer hit the "pay" button and sent $320 into the electronic hole without even an "i received your payment" or "thanks for payment". actually, i have NEVER received any confirmation from any sy/ty vendor on a placed order. you just hit the "pay" button and hope it arrives.

i can get on EBAY and order (insert anything) from Bangladesh and have the order tracked to my front doorstep from any of 100s of vendors, but this small community of vendors, whom we're expected to support, find it difficult to give, anything but, the most minimal of info, and in this case (which is rare) it is inaccurate.

BUT, i realize the is a BIG two-way street. vendors have to deal with demanding/asshole customers also.

Re: ripped off

Everyone wants the best of both worlds.....personal customer support, and next day delivery. You don't walk into a mom & pop ownder diner and expect a full top quality surf & turf dinner for $1.95 and the some playboy model waitress to serve it to you in naked.

I really don't feel like justifying all of this vendor crap here. I haven't been a vendor too long, but have already experienced some of the crap that others have had to deal with for a while now. I personally know most of the vendors, and have dealt w/ most every vendor on here. I am pretty sure i have as good of an idea of what goes on behind the scenes as any syty.net user/customer....hell i've personally dealt w/ many month delays on things and other issues that lots others have themselves dealt with. You'd be hard pressed to find me bashing a vendor in any of the many threads i've been involved with...even the few i've had issues w/ over the years.

Some of the dealings gone bad are laughable and completely the customers' fault. Sometimes its the vendors fault. In the end....it really doesn't matter all that much who's at fault...just whether or not it gets resolved. This specific instance has been remedied and resolved...so hopefully the thread too dies off.

My only recommendation for people is to be smart about slinging your $ around. If its some person or vendor you don't know anything about, or how to contact....research them before sending them tons of $. Ask a friend, make a post, do whatever.....but if you willingly send $15,000 to some off shore zimbabwean 12-yr old internet user who you never heard of and they then instantly vanished w/ your money....you too are to blame. I know this isn't the case here, but i'm just ranting at this point anyway
