This it the biggest step in tuning I've ever seen, did about 10 bins tweaking the idle afr in about 20 minutes, doing it chip by chip would have taken hours. Its the best $179 I've ever spent.

Can you leave the box in the truck permanently? I guess if it gets battery voltage all the time you can. This could mean no more eprom burning, if I'm right. Wow...

Yes and NO.

It gets its power through the ECM, it has no other external power source, but it does have a built in battery that Intronics said will last like 12 hours. I left my truck unpowered for 24 hours the other night and it still worked, Dig said his other emulator last like 3 months, hopefully this is the case with the Romulator.

I'm not planning on running chips anymore, even if it losses its memory after a few day, I'll just power up the laptop and resend the buffer. I usually have my laptop with anyways..

Supports 2716 -27256 sized EPROM Emulation. Battery memory backup. Second connection to external 9-24Vdc supply for memory (you don't need to hook this up unless you are not powering or programming for 12+ hours). Make transparent changes to Rom image while CPU is running. Very popular with EFI hackers. Also use for Microprocessor developers

so what happens if you hooked the second power input to your battery?
wonder what kinda current draw it would be if it stayed on all the time.

I didn't seen a second power imput, maybe I'm blind. I'll check tonight.

The one the 110V wall outlet plugs in to... it'll take cig lighter voltage.
This would keep the memory alive indefinitely. (At least, until your
vehicle batt went dead...)

I got one one these today. I am having trouble getting it to load bin files to the rom. I did it once by accident. I could load it to the buffer I think but the buffer wont send it to the rom prom even while the car was idleing in default mode due to lack of eprom info.
Also datamaster and the romulater can't run at the same time they both use a DB9 conector.. I only have one of these on my laptop. Dose anyone know if it is possible to get DM to work @ another com port? what kind of cable would then be needed.?

I run both Datamaster and Romulator at the same time. The romulator will work through the usb port, radio shack sells a usb to serial port adaptor.

Using the Romulator

1. Plug in and turn key foward.
2. Set com port until the message "looking for pocket rom" goes away.
3. Click on the "pull hard button" should read "pull soft"
4. Set Eprom size to match bin, 27128 for 16 bit, and 27256 for 32 bit.
5. Then load buffer
6. Send buffer to Rom
7. Verify Buffer
8. Let her Buck.

BTW: Datamaster won't work through the usb adaptor, its picky as hell, but the Romulator will.

One other tiny little thing, make sure the red line on the cable is facing pin #1 or away from the ECM.

Let us know if it all worked out..

Buster thanks for the info about the com ports that's sweet. I was tring to change the DM to USB with no luck...
I am almost postive that I followed the above instructions. I am going down stares to try again, I'll follow up

Holy Sheit, Mark I owe you a Beer It worked...
I had a bad bin file. Well it wasnt complete for some reason. I uploaded another bin file while it was running!...I could tell it was working cause the check engine Light was bliking as fast as the tranfer with a shitty idle then poof perfect again. I did have to use the pull soft key. Un beliveible!..
