Hi Kenneth,

I can offer the turbo with 9 blades wheel but I just have the 8 cm turbine
housing.
The turbo with T3 / v-band 10cm is available if you need it.

Regards,
Bruce

Well, that at least is a lot better combo than using a stock 12 bladed or even there 11 bladed turbine wheel & 8 CM turbine housing. Sounds like they are willing to deal w/custom orders which is nice.

W/the 9 bladed turbine wheel, 60-1 compressor wheel & even the 8 CM, yes even the 8 CM turbine housing, that should open up the exhaust for better breathing & still have plenty of low RPM boost capabilities.:2cents:

What 10 CM housing is he talking about? Internal wastgate still? If that is the case, definitely get the 10 CM turbine housing.

Undetermined
Pistons (I'm open to suggestions)
Cam will be custom ground Comp Cams (I'm open to suggestions)

My goal is to make ~400 RWHP

Have a think about these: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/slp-lw2256f30/overview/

They are .030" over but are what I went with. The heads are +64cc and with these I ended up with about a 9.35 compression ratio.

Forged - check
Correct CR - check
I think they come in various over bores - check
Can buy them individually - check

He probably is talking about this one. It is an external WG. http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/kinugawaturbohyundaigenesistd05h16g300ps-2-2-2-1-1-3-2-1-1-1-1-1.aspx

****update****

New goal is 400 RWHP

I have found and purchased a set of new forged SpeedPro Pistons (L2441F030) and 6 Eagle H-Beam Rods (570063D).

I'm taking suggestions on nitriding the stock crank. Is it worth it?

I'm considering a 4 bolt main conversion to go with my ARP main stud set. Is the conversion it worth it?

Also, I received an e-mail today from Bruce @ Kinugawa about a TD06H 60-1 turbo. With the options for a 11 or 9 vane wheel (cast or billet) and either a 8 or 10 CM2 housing. I'm considering ordering this setup. The billet option is roughly $100 more then cast. Opinions???

Re: Pistons suggestions for a Turbo Vortec 4.3L

Anecdotally, people say 750 crank HP is where the stock crank lets go. Yours will be around 600.

Nitriding wont make it stronger, just the surface depth a bit harder for a few microns.

4 bolt mains - depends. Are you going to leave the engine as is once you make 400hp? Probably not but.... costs add up and it's not really something you need until you go a bit faster.

I would leave the nitriding and the 4 bolt for now as the standard block is proven to handle what you have planned.

FWIW, I have done both to mine and wish I had a spare $1500 from not doing them. Later, maybe.

If you trash your block on the way to 400hp, all that will have been for nothing. :2cents:

Re: Pistons suggestions for a Turbo Vortec 4.3L

why are you so set on a stock looking turbo? for $1k or even less you could get a much nicer turbo that spools just as fast and can support more power and isnt hard to find. i understand why some sy/ty guys do it.

if this is something that catches your interest, i have a 6162 turbonetics that put out about what your looking to make. it would work best with a converter though.... which i happen to have one that needs rebuilt too for your 4l60e. pm me if your interested in either of them.

check out my thread for more info on my build, but i wish i would have done a partial fill on my block now along with the 4 bolt mains and cryo crank.

It's not that I'm dead-set on a stock looking turbo, but this is my first turbo conversion and I'm very limited on local people that have turbo experience that are willing help me put this together. Since I already have SyTy manifolds and a DP, it would be considerably easier to use a stock style turbo with an internal WG.

Why are you selling your turbo?

Re: Pistons suggestions for a Turbo Vortec 4.3L

the sy/ty dp wont work on a 2wd truck form what i understand, so your going to have to atleast make a down pipe so there is going to be some fab work and welding. making a spacer and adding an external wastegate isnt too hard. i could even include mine if your really interested, possibly even include the wastegate for the right price.

pretty sure precision and turbonetics offers internal wastegate setups for the right exhaust housing too.

do you know how to tune? if you dont you should start looking around for a tuner locally too, maybe ask them what they think about turbo sizing and such.

im going bigger, much bigger. i wanna go faster. lol. thats the only reason im selling it, its a great street turbo imo. it spools quicky with a converter. pm me if your interested, i dont want to clog up your thread with trying to sell you something.

Contact JWALLER and see if he still offers 20g turbos. I got mine from him for $850. That was back in 06 but he may still do it.

Yea the down pipe wont work on a 2wd truck, I have seen a project I have tried to get my hands in on which is along the same lines and the stock down pipe in 2wd chassis does not work. I notice the pipe bends and hits the frame on the outer part and does not fit up to the 3 stock turbo bolts (only what I saw) I was trying to offer the person some 2.5 inch mandrel bend pipe I had for another project on hold. This is perfect to fab your own down pipe. I told the person to just wack the pipe at the flange and (use what I have) and take it from there.

Person is Using a Sy/Ty engine with a 200r4 (grand national) in a 88-89 blazer going RWD. I just was trying to offer my help to the person but "money is tite" and they seem a bit skeptical on me and possibly being over friendly.

What I have is a box of stainless bends- More a DIY type fab. Problem is not everyone has the time or is cut out to do the work.

The SyTy DP does work on RWD trucks. The body is the same on both trucks and there is actually more room under the front of RWD trucks then the AWD trucks when it comes to the exhaust. UR50SLO of Full Throttle V6 has a similar setup.

I do have TunerCat, but I have no experiance using it. I had planned on trailering the truck and engine over to a shop in Houston to have it dyno tuned by a pro before She sees the street.

I dont know I seen something different. Things could have been way off on this other project. It did look like the pipe would work, It just needed to be hacked all up. Let me know how it works out

his is 4wd. 2wd and 4wd are quiet different actually, different frames and the body sits up higher.

From what I could see with engine still in the truck (fenders off) and the TD05 turbo I have, The SyTy DP does fit with no problems. I may have to massage it a little once the engine is complete and the fenders are all back in place.

Get rid of the chinese crap turbos. Stop wasting time trying to figure out a cheaper way to make it work. Buy a real T3T4 turbo bolt it on the stock manifolds. Put an external wastegate on the crossover pipe. And call it a day.
Suggestions on turbo size. A real 60-1 with a 4 inch inlet and 2.5 inch outlet and a T3 turbine wheel, i.e. Turbonetics stage 3 with a .63 exhaust housing.
A similar turbo with a TO4E50 or 60 trim will also work well.

^thats kinda what i was getting at too....

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f11/new-model-trucks-with-syclone-manifolds-432481/

i thought i read about the down pipe at one point.

im not sure why you want a 2.5" dp anyways, a 3" fits with no problems. really you want as little restriction as possible after the turbo. internal gates are funny too.

i could understand some of this if you were after like 300 or so crank, but you want 500 crank.

Ok' please keep in mind that this is my first turbo conversion and that I do not have anybody looking over my shoulder giving me advise. I also do no know how to weld, so any exhaust fab has to be done at a shop and brought back home. That being said, I did research on the site for external WG. I see that one person installed his in the underside of the RH manifold where the two banks come together. Would that be more beneficial then in the crossover pipe?

What size WG should I be looking for? What spring rate?

What do you think about a Garrett T35?

Never heard of a T35. Did you mean GT35? If so, really good turbo, but most of them require an external gate. It won't bolt up to the stock downpipe.

When it comes to external gates, a 38mm will likely work fine, but may as well do it once and buy a 44. I love Tial products, they've always worked great for me.

Yes, sorry, it is a GT35R I was looking at but I was talking to a guy that came into my work yesterday that has an old BMW that he turboed. He said he really like PTE turbos and injector dynamics injectors. I looked this up late last night. PT6266
