Bad Ass Black Trucks
New member
As I mentioned in my parts for sale thread, I'm putting My 92 Typhoon, #1770 back to stock. I'm currently torn about whether to sell or part it out. It came out of Florida and the frame is great. The worst thing about the truck is that it is a repaint and it was not done well. It has started to crack and peel in several different places from the summer heat and it needs done right. There is some light rust, but taking care of the paint would solve 99% of the body rust. It was stored both inside and outside during the time that I owned it. I would have preferred inside but I could not block the hoist in my Dad's shop. The truck is dirty from being outside, my dad mowed around it and blew grass clippings all over.
The motor is out of another truck with about 115k miles on it. It got fresh bearings, a timing chain and new lifters before going in. I had trouble with an oscillating idle and no start in cold weather (but it would start right up in the spring). I chased vacuum leaks and other ghost issues but finally threw in the towel. Recently, when pulling off the downpipe I found a couple of exhaust leaks upstream of the O2 sensor that were likely culprits of the unsteady idle. I would keep at it but I'm losing my storage space and will have nowhere to work on it once my dad's property sells.
All the cladding is included but there are some cracks, most notably the DS rocker is cracked clear through. The tabs on the drivers side piece behind the door broke off but could be repaired. Other cladding pieces on the truck are almost perfect. I have the drivers side front arch off the truck and it has one broken tab.
-Clear title in hand
-Interior is good, except for cracks in the dash
-New GM replacement trans about 30k miles ago
-New radiator
-New NOS throttle body
-silicone vacuum lines
-New plug wires
Needs:
-A bath
-Stock torque converter (my dad threw it out when cleaning up his shop)
-Paint
-2 front tires
-Could use a windshield (rock chips)
-Cat and Exhaust
-Stock turbo has some play, I have a rebuild kit for it
-Transfer case has a very slight bind at full turn, I have a new chain that would likely solve the issue
-transmission lines
-Pass side power window motor (I have a new one)
-AC recharged
-Rear window struts
I'm thinking around $4,500 as it sits. I know it's worth more in parts but I don't want to take a solid truck off the road.

Seats are in good shape. They are a little dried out but not bad.
I replaced the steering wheel with one from a low mileage truck, the original was cracked from the sun at the 12 o'clock position.

Here is a short video driving with the 60-1 turbo and Greddy BOV.
