My Ty currently has a multi-stage paintjob on it, I'd call it a "candy red" or something along those lines. The problem is, I need to match this color to do a partial repaint. I don't know the name of the color, the brand of paint that was used, or the body shop that did it.
Here's what I do know -- it appears to be a multi-stage paint, probably a three part system. First is a silver base coat (metallic, I believe) then a red-tinted clear, then (I think) a final clear. I checked with the paint guy at my local O'Reilly's store to see if their computerized color matching machine would have any hope of matching a multi-stage paint, and he said no.
I don't know where to start, other than to start looking at color chips from Dupont, PPG, House of Kolor, Sherwin-Williams, and anyone else that sells mutli-stage specialty paints. Any ideas???
Here's a picture of it:
