Ngk. It's loud with a sound of a lifter or rocker but I'm not sure.

No I haven't had any of those things off. Just basically tune-up.

What part number NGK?

Have you got an engine stethoscope? 5.99 from Harbor Freight.You need to listen to the valve cover and ideally remove it if you're worried about the lifters/rockers..

What is your oil pressure like?

took my truck to the performance shop and they basically told me that my truck threw a rod and the rebuild would be 2900.00 dollars. what should I do?

Are you saying that you DROVE the truck to a shop and they say you threw a rod?

No, i'm saying the loud noise that my truck has been making and the spark plug damage was because of the the rod.

looking at the plug pics I would say you're motor might be damaged, but you can't run a motor that threw a rod. I would run away from that shop as well:2cents:

Ok guys, picked up my truck today and I appreciate the advice but I back at square 1 because I still don't know anybody that can fix my truck without trying to experiment with it. Is there anybody that can work on my truck in the area?

The fact that the spark plug is physically damaged is interesting. I don't think it is possible for the piston to hit the spark plug, even with a broken/bent rod, unless the piston itself is broken. It doesn't look like the spark plugs are the wrong length. Probably something is banging around in the combustion chamber. No matter, the place to start is to pull the heads. This is not difficult for any good shop to do. Or you can learn to do it yourself. The money you save will pay for a set of tools, and you will learn a lot. Surely you have a friend somewhere nearby that you can lean on.

Be aware though, this is a slippery slope. Once you have the heads off, it is only a few more bolts to pull the whole engine. The engine hoist is only a couple hundred dollars at Harbor Freight. With the engine out, it is just a few more bolts to pull the transmission, might as well go through it too....

I think that's what started everything is the detonation. When I bought the truck last year I heard a screeching sound on my way home from buying it but didn't know what it was. It was running fine on the street but when I got on the interstate I notice some lagging when getting up to 60-70 and the screeching sound. When I got home I noticed smoke and figured it had to much oil in it because it was leaking from the dipstick.

The guy that sold me the truck probably knew something but I got caught up because I really wanted the truck and everything mechanically looked fine. Shouldve done more research on the turbos.
