Myclone stories thread

Whenever we had a guy pass on from our group we would post up a new thread for everyone to read and very importantly his family to see all the wonderful stories and goofy pictures of their loved ones. We would post our greatest memories, best stories, post pictures, and basicly post anything that made us remember how great the person who passed was.

I think that with all the people on here and the impact that Myclone left of so many people here, that is something we all could easily do. Im not talking about a memorial thread to mour the loss of someone but a celebration of life of a brother thread posting all the great things he did. I know when my best friend was lost his family was VERY grateful for the wonderful thread we had about his life.

Thats all. Its a great gift to hear the stories his wife never would have heard and see the pictures she never would have seen.

Not a chatter thread amongst us, but a thread of stories that his family would like to print and save for years to come.

Anyone want to start that thread?

Re: Myclone stories thread

I dont have a great story but I have been struggling with getting my Typhoon repainted and trying to do all the prepwork myself in the garage and learning how at the same time. I am CLUELESS and this is my 1st time getting a car painted. Well Myclone stepped up and spelled it out for me with How To Prep A Typhoon For Dummies by Myclone... lol
Seriously, It helped a ton. I printed out what he said the day he posted it and its still sitting on my workbench right now beside my stripped Typhoon.

Actually Ive told the stories from time to time how I rolled/wrecked the tractor. Its been eons ago as last year was drought conditions here and I only had to mow maybe 3 times total all year.

FWIW... I should have been more specific on the amount of times rolled. Ive rolled it on several occassions and its only went over once or twice in each occassion. No, I didnt hang on either. I bailed once I felt it was beyond recovery. The thought of tumbling down one of the many embankments on the myclone property with the three blades of that 50" deck spinning WFO just doesnt appeal to me.

The only time I didnt roll it but still wrecked in grand style 100% sober was when I got the great idea to kick it out of gear at the top of my driveway to see how fast I could get it going by drifting down the driveway (seemed like a good/fun idea at the time). I typed that up too. I think Ryan (Sigo) has it saved somewhere.

Yep... The only vehicle Ive ever owned that, other than a bad fuel pump, has never let me down is now gone... The yota 4x4..... :( I beat that truck unmercfully, drove it like I hated it (I did hate it), hauled 1700lbs of concrete blocks on it, stood it on its rear bumper wheel'n, stood it on its front bumper wheel'n, had it in the air ~5ft wheel'n, pulled the tractor back up from over the hill(s) after many mowing the grass drunk/naked "mishaps", and all the time it never failed to start, stop, or get me where I needed to go. It looked like a complete pile and there wasnt a straight/non rusty panel on it but I could put 10 bucks worth of gas in it and drive it for two weeks to work and back with gas left over for fun in the mud. Siiiggggghhhh.....

But..... my fellow captive audience, I have replaced (traded actually) the ol yota with a fine product of redneck ingenuity(sp?). Yes sir, a 1982 GMC 4x4 with custom paint (you guys gotta see this), 250 cubic inches of 1 barrel inline tower of power torque (did I mention its got a rod knock and NO oil pressure?), lockers in front and rear diff, and (the best part) a 4spd with "granny gear".. YEEEEEE HHHHAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!

Pics tomorrow when it gets daylight (you guys are gonna LOVE the paint  ) and the "tower of power" inline six is coming out to make room for the 355 SBC thats in the garage in need of a home. Look out Baha 1000, here I come   :D :D

Just venting since Mrs myclone could care less and the other 99% of my gear head friends that are local cant power up a computer let alone use the interweb.

A guy/kid on another forum I hang out at asks for opinions of what caused damage to bearings he had removed from a motor he bought. After a day or two of no replies I figured Id try to help the kid out some since he's on a budget or at least claims to be and he is always talking about wanting to learn to do stuff himself so he can save a few bucks. I spent 30-45min typing up info as well as using pics to give him info on what to look for as well as how to go about checking things over and I get the following response:

"I guess Im going to take it to a shop"

Ok, then WTF was the purpose of asking for help diagnosing the bearing problems in the first place if the guy wasnt going to at least set up a dial indicator to check the crank run out or measure any of the journals? Hell, spend a freakin dollar or two on some plastigauge and attempt to check it yourself since you might just learn something and you wont waste anyone elses time......or keep your pie hole shut to begin with and drag your junk to a machine shop.

Wankers like that just make me want to yank the computer off the desk pitch it into the dumpster at work and say to hell with the interweb (actually the interweb was ok till all the tards figured out how to goof it up for the rest of us).

Here are a couple

Here is one I found.

Dave had tore up his leg / knee IIRC correctly and couldn't make down the driveway to collect the mail under his own power...so imagine dave looking at the tractor and thinking he could manipulate the clutch with his walking stick. :rotf: :(

I'll have to dig that story up.

I'm trying to find the story where he was with MsMyclone at his buddies house where his friends neighbor came over and started to give him a hard time. (said his truck/style didn't "fit" the neighborhood) Myclone, not taking any of this guys bs, decided to pull his truck out of his buddies driveway and into the neighbor's driveway and lay down some rubber! He said the look on the guys face was priceless! :rotf:

Re: Myclone stories thread

This was a list of myclone's "Things I've Learned".

1. Putting gravel from the driveway in the exh system on your uncles KZ 1000 bike makes for cool pea shooter activity when he leaves and goes WOT to show off (got my a$$ beat for that).

2. Never eat raw hamburger or your mom will beat your a$$.

3. Never hit your stupid cousin in the side of the head with a big glob of axle grease you just found while you both were walking along the RR tracks. He'll think his brains are coming out of his head and run home screaming/crying. You'll get your a$$ beaten.

4. Never cut every other spoke in the neighborhood bullys front wheel on his bike with your dads wire cutters as it will collapse when he comes down from doing a wheely. He'll beat your a$$ but you still laugh.

5. Dont play "doctor" with your neighbors daughter when your ~7yrs old and her dad is as big as any pro wrestler. You'll get caught and just about die from fear....then your dad will beat your a$$.

6.Dont play with gun powder from your dads flint lock rifle if your stupid best bud is holding the matches. You'll both get your a$$es beat right before your parents drag you to the barbor to get your singed hair cut off.

7. Its not a good idea to spend all day dragging whats left of a riding lawn mower you and your stupid best friend found up onto the roof at his house then riding it off. You'll bash your skull on the sidewalk when you land and get lectured all the way home from the emergency room.

8. Its cool to learn how to weld when your 13yrs old and you combine the front half of a bike frame with whats left of a push mower in the rear to replace the non-existant bikes rear tire. Its even cooler to put your previously mentioned stupid cousin on it to "try it out". Picking the steepest part of the yard will give you even more entertainment when he loses control and wrecks into a your grannys huge rose bush. You get both your a$$es beat but you'll go back and ride the contraption some more.

9. You'll get your a$$ beat beyond belief if you pee in your little sisters play kitchen sink.

10. You'll get your a$$ beat almost as bad if you set up your dads car ramps at the bottom of your insanely steep driveway and turn your little sister loose on your dads creeper from the top of the driveway. She will inevidably hit the ramps at high speed and no where near straight launching her into the back of your dads POS ford truck head first.

Dave and I used to chat about the South and how life is for simple, country-folk like us. That was always something I cherished that he and I really had in common (beyond cars/trucks in general). I will miss him, but take comfort in knowing that he's better off where he's at now than down here on Earth. In fact, he's probably explaining how to make the gates open better to Saint Peter himself right now.

Rev 21:3-4 - "“Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the first things have passed away."

RIP Dave...

Re: Myclone stories thread

Siggy,

FYI, I picked up the red neckmobile yesterday and should start the ensuing restoration next week. Lots of little things that I knew pictures hide really well that need done but it will be all good once Im finished with it.

However, needless to say I don’t think the Speakmans in OH will want to ever see me again. Yep, that’s right….its story time.

Let me start off by saying that after spending 3+hrs washing and waxing the dually the day before (gotta represent when Im out and about ya know
icon_wink.gif
) only to drive 6+hrs in pouring rain didn’t make me all too happy but the weather isn’t anyones fault so whaddya do? Ok, lets back up a little bit… Before I agreed to waste my time/money to purchase the car I spent time on the phone with this cabbage head and to make a long story short I was told (and I quote) “the car has absolutely no rust, 100% unmodified other than a flowmaster muffler, and is in excellent shape”.

So I get to the Speakmans house and meet “Bob” and “Bob jr”. Bob jr is the owner and after a few minutes of greetings my F body expert bud and myself go over to take a look at it. I pop the hood to look things over while he starts at the rear. First thing I notice is the rust that’s forming in the pinch weld where the hoods inner structure is mated to the skin but no big deal as its very minor but I note it none the less to look VERY close at every other location since I was told “no rust”. My bud motions for me to walk to the back of the car and he shows me that the bolt on rear bumper cover support is like swiss cheese from rust at which point things start going down hill.

I turn to Bob jr and ask what the deal is since he said “no rust” and politely (for now) explain that what Im finding isn’t my idea of no rust. He now has a deer in the headlights look similar to what you would prolly get when you tell your best guy bud your not happy as a man and will be having surgery to become a woman shortly. Needless to say Im not happy at this point after spending ~$100 in gas to drive up through a monsoon as well as getting what teeth I have left rattled by I-79s condition west of Pittsburg I see we’re possibly going to have a problem. Keep in mind Im not happy but I haven’t called on red neckerson’s abilities yet either so Im straight faced and to the point but I haven’t raised my voice.

Since I forgot the floor jack I tell Bob jr to hand me the keys so I can pull the car part way up on the trailer so I can look underneath better. He doesn’t want to give up the keys because for some reason he thinks Im going to take off with a non tagged non insured car leaving my dually, trailer, tools and misc stuff behind. Yep, that’s what I had in mind as Im sure Id make it to Mexico from OH before anyone was the wiser. That’s getting off the subject though but you get an idea of the rocket scientist Im dealing with. I get the front of the car up on the trailer and thankfully find the car was Zeibart’d (professionally under coated) at some point which is why the car still has floor boards Im sure. While my bud and myself are under the car with mags lights checking things out Bob jr goes over to converse with Bob sr who’s sitting on the front porch and undoubtedly Bob sr is now concerned that Bob jr has gotten himself into a sticky situation so they both make their way back to the car. After crawling out Bob jr asks “well, whaddya think?” to which I reply “Im not too overly happy right now considering Im finding rust in a “rust free car” which shuts him up for now.

I want to get a better look at the bumper support under the rear of the car so I ignore the two Bob’s attempt at small talk and back the car off the trailer, turn it 180 deg, and back it on again. Needless to say I can now fully see that the rear bumper support isn’t actually supporting anything and in reality the bumper cover is holding it in place. By this time Ive gotten about as aggravated as I can get without being full blown mad. Before I crawl out I ask the two Bobs what the deal is as I reach up and grab a handful of rusted bumper support, yank it off, crawl out, and waive it in front of them.

By now I think the Bobs figure out that the deposit I sent little Bob will be requested to be returned along with me tearing out of their yard in the dually at WOT. Big Bob looks at little Bob and before he can say a word I step within arms reach of little Bob and tell him “BOY, you better have the money I sent you as this is a $3200 car on its best day cause Im finding rust you said wasn’t there”. FYI for you peace lovers out there most ppl with any amount of sack will be ready to scrap if called “boy”, especially in the tone I was using.

Back to the point, at this time big Bob thinks hes gonna save jrs hind end by telling me that “this is a northern car and its in excellent shape” to which I reply “I don’t give a flyin flip what you THINK it’s a fact your son said NO RUST which isn’t debatable no matter if the car is from OH or freakin Mars. No rust is NOT up for debate and means no rust PERIOD”. Bob sr then points to the ~89 convertible vette that’s obviously his and says “look how nice that car is and if you look under it you will find some rust” to which I reply “I don’t give a damn as I wasn’t told that car (pointing to the vette) was rust free but I was told this one didn’t have any (now stabbing index finger into the roof of camaro) as a matter of fact I own a truck that spent most of its life in Anchorage, AK and IT doesn’t have any rust so it doesn’t matter where a car is from it’s a pretty well known fact that no rust means no freaking rust”. Note during this time Im waving the piece of rusted bumper cover support at both of them and basically using to address the Bobs rather than my index finger.

Finally, the light comes on in Bob Sr’s head as and he realizes that jr has obviously misrepresented the car in the rust aspect and probably notes that my voice is getting louder by the second. He turns to Bob jr and says “give the man his deposit back” to which jr replies (and this part isn’t suprising) “I don’t have it….I paid this bill, and that bill, my truck needed this part, and blah, blah, blah…….”. Before he finishes Im in full blown ticked off mode and step into jrs face while keeping one eye on Bob jr and tell him the following… “Lemme tell you something boy!!! You’ve got 500 bucks of my money and a rusty camaro that I don’t want. We are now going to negotiate a better price and if you don’t like it then we’ll all be on Americas Stupidest Criminals over a freakin camaro. You get what Im sayin!?!?!”

By now my car bud is about to freak the hell out as hes still got a few more weeks on probation from a DUI (yes, he knows he’s an idiot but that’s another story) and he can NOT get in any trouble or its off to the clink with him and he knows me well enough to see when things are a few seconds from getting ignorant. Bob Sr is pushing 60 so he could end up with a broken hip or something so he really doesn’t want to scrap. Bob jr is about 5’6” and 105lbs soaking wet so I don’t think he really wants to take the beating he’ll require to get the cops on the way.

Anways, back to the story…. Bob sr speaks up from his stance about 8ft away and asks what it will take to make me happy. While still giving Bob jr the “Im about to go to your hind end” look I tell him that the price being negotiable would be a good start. Bob jr, in his last ditch effort to act like he actually owns a set of nads says “how much are you talking about cause I wont go much lower…”

Sigh…that’s when Id had enough stupidity for one day… I clinched my teeth (tooth?) and said “boy, lemme tell you something and Im done talking.. I’ll go 3500 plus the money you already have from the deposit and not a GD penny more. This car is worth 4 grand on a good day and this aint a good day for it. If you wont take the 3500 cash or give me my deposit back you’ve got a BIG problem on your hands”. About this time my bud looks at Bob sr and with a raised eyebrow says “Dave doesn’t like to talk very long in situations like this and ya better deal with the man…now”. Gotta love buds that have been around you before when situations go very wrong. Anyways, Bob sr actually isn’t a complete moron and tells jr “take the cash so these guys can get on the road”.

End of story…. Sorry to you folks that thought you were gonna witness a hind end kicking story as it didn’t happen but by God it was close IMO. I was ready to flog jr within an inch of his life.

So, cash was exchanged, the rust box loaded, and no dually/trailer donuts were done in the Bobs’ front yard. On the good side of things the car actually runs good after taking jr for a sideways trip down the street with no tags/ins (yeah, jr bout crapped himself when I pulled out of their driveway, went WOT, and turned the car completely sideways while never lifting.. YEEE HAWWWW!!).

Final thoughts that should be pretty freakin obvious for anyone getting ready to sell a car be they up north, down south, or on Mars… If you say “no rust” there had better be NO RUST or at the very least minor surface crap NOT the prospective buyer being able to remove substantial parts of the cars structure with his bare hands due to the affor mentioned “no rust”. No rust means just that no matter what planet youre on.

Myclone drove up to MA to pick up a bunch of parts for E-, Ryan, and Jason from my parts Sy. He was looking over my picked over parts pile, I told him he could have whatever he wanted. He picked up a steering shaft. He said he wanted it for the heat shield. I look at the heated shield on the steering shaft and it was worn and practically gone.

Myclone said me "Don't tell anyone on the forum or I will never hear the end it, but I can sew. I am actually pretty good with a sewing needle."

The story of myclone forum name

myclone said:
Back in the day I was into S10s in a big way and they were always black with not a lot of do dads and crap hanging off them like most of the lowered trucks of the day not to mention Id always wanted a sy since seeing one kick a ferrari's ass at the drag strip on tv. Since I really didnt have the cash to plunk down for a syclone I just called all my home built trucks "my version of a syclone" or myclone for short which is what I always had on the lic plate. Once I was in a position to actually buy a real syclone I just kept using the myclone name on the lic plate which is cool since most all the locals who werent observant thought the sy was the same truck(s) Id always had before....unitl I wiped them up at a light where as before I had traction issues going from a dig.

Anyways, I like the name for some reason and I go by myclone on every other forum or site except for ebay since someone already had myclone on there (bastards!!). I still havent figured out why most ppl write Myclone in emails/PMs since I never use caps when I type my own screen name :dunno: .
