I would be more concerned about having good boost control with that setup. Deleting the cat = stock WG not being able to control boost on MOST trucks. Look into an external wastegate to keep things safe and under control.

... aye, but the chip ( STG 10n1) should handle this IMO , right ???

and the HP-gain, like i said : aprox. ???

thx.pat.

No....your chip will just read boost and run the wastegate solenoid accordingly, but if the wastegate itself cannot vent quickly enough, you'll overboost. The previous owner of my truck removed the cat, and promptly split the crankshaft in two.

for HP, take a look at the dyno run below. It isn't quite a stock motor, but should give you somekind of baseline to 'guess' from.

@ vermonTy :

... thx. man, but knew richards page already ;)

the overboost-thingy surprises me, because my motorguy (use to be really a hero in sytys here) told me that if i got that chip in, its possible to delete the cat ...hmmm :werd:
so what should i have to fix, in order to run my truck savely (exept reinstallt the cat *gg*) ???
the stock WG was tested and tuned about a year ago, so that i can say it works properly like it should ... do i still have to worry :squint: ???

TIA pat.

well, to be honest, some people have overboost issues with the deleted cat, some don't...just datalog it a few runs, and keep an eye on the aftermarket boost gauge, and no...the chip won't help you with overboosting

expect to hopefully not blow up [all smiles]!!! just kidding

I ran no cat with an STG chip with no problems but you have to really make fine adjustments to the wastegate for it to vent correctly, without it overboosting. The good thing about your chip is that it will most likely cut the fuel, if it senses overboost but then again, I would not rely on that safety feature alone..

Re: my mods - what can i expect ???

there is a Rod attached to your wastegate flapper, this one is connecting your actuater with the flapper in the turbo to vent off exhaust pressure to control your boost.
missing Cat can over boost, if you are having overboost isseus turn the rod alittle bit longer, and try again.
be sure to datamaster.
