agree, besides most of these bits wouldnt even fit in the dremel. I was wearin' sunglasses, hunkered on the floor in the enterance to my apt grinding away. Not the best setup, but it worked.

Dremel bits will cost you more then the cost of the stuff I posted above, dont waste your time on their stuff, its not inteded for projects like this.

get carbide cutting burs and carbide sanding rolls.

stupid myclone: would the carbide stuff I posted above work fine on aluminum? if not give us an example of what you could use.

WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Ive been to the emergency room numerous times to get debri dug outta my eye cause I was too hard headed or in too big of a hurry to put a pair of safety glasses on.

Have you been to ER room twice in same month for the same thing?

:D :D

Good thing my mom worked in ER, it became almost like a drivethru metal removal from eye.

These bits are the ones Im talking about that WONT work for aluminum and if you try your sanity wil suffer.

Notice the flutes or "teeth" are quite close togeather. The alum will quickly build up in them and render them almost useless. You will spend more time using a small screwdriver or pick to dig the alum out of the teeth than porting. The alum bits/burs are much more coarse in teeth count and will not clog nearly as easily. Doing the lubricant dip/WD40 treatment I mentioned earlier will make them even less likely to clog and when they do they are easy to clean. Just be extra cautious with the coarse bits and aluminum as they cut FAST. One slip can ruin an intake (BTDT). The alum bits are readily available from just about anywhere that sells the above bits (power house tools, standard abrassive, etc) for about the same price. If you take care of the bits they will last many sets of heads and even longer cutting aluminum.

The cartridge rolls and cross buffs you have will work fine for aluminum since they remove much less material. You wear them out before they clog.

ROFLMAO... Youve only been twice in one month??? Noob :p

You need to ask ms myclone what happened to the weed eater that sent me to the ER 3 times. It was not a pretty sight when it injured me the fourth time.
