Has anyone been able to get a 6L60E and put it in yet? Imagine A 6 speed auto in these things.

imagine how fast it will break cause its not any stronger than a 4L60E

pointless investment IMO.

No controller exists yet for the new tranny aside from the gm computer, at least that I am aware of. I do know of someone working on one, but not even close to ready.

Its already in some Caddy cars, and I believe there is a AWD version in the 2007 Yukon Denali and the top of the line Chevy and Caddy also

Re: 6l60e

i bet the 6l80e would be a very very heavy tranny, if i remember right the big allison tranny behind the disels weights like 700lbs and it's a five speed

Re: 6l60e

The new C6 'Vettes are available with the 6L80E. Also the STS-V and another Caddy. The new GM900 platform trucks will have it available (new Tahoe's, up-coming Suburbans and the rest of the pickup line).

If you read the literature, it ought to be a good transmission. The gear ratios are nicely spread (not the super wide ratio drops that the 700R4 provides). Once they become readily available and product support gets cooking on it, it will be a viable choice. I expect that it'll make the 4L80E swap look like a bargain though.....

Re: 6l60e

here's another link for info....

http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/e...ns/2007 Automatics/07_HydraMatic_6L80_MYC.xls

the .67 6th gear ratio is a little disappointing considering its a 6 speed, the 4L70E is a .70 4th gear overdrive ratio but its better than the 4L80E .75 4th gear overdrive ratio.

Whats cool is the 222lb weight of the 6L80E, considering the 4L80E is a whopping 252lbs, but the big shocker is the 4L70E 163 - 195lbs (depending on converter size I guess?).

It seems that the 4L70E offers the best weight advantage and a final drive ratio that is better than the 4L80E.

yeah, its just infortunate you have to sacrafice boost launching, performance, increase turbo lag and increased wear and tear on parts just to get it
