Yes that is the same spring.
The Forge unit looks nice . but you cannot adjust in 1 half psi increments. haveing springs that covers 5 10 15 20 psi does not cover inbetween ranges.

I never said to adjust the wastegate rod . even though that is another option up to a point. but if you go too far. the you could limit the opening of the wastegate valve. not good.

Yes the springs for the forge gate range from 3-4psi stages I think if i remember correct. With a 1/16th-1/8th of an inch preload on the blue I was able to hold 15psi solid. I plan to add the AEM truboost in the future with the use a the 3bar ultimate to turn up the boost a few psi at the track.

Im sure if you wanted to get technical with shims on the forge gate you could, I just had great results with one full turn on the rod yeilded 1 more psi. Anymore affects the control and causes spikes.

What i love about this gate is a can merge onto the freeway at halfthrottle holding 15psi and floor it and it will stay at 15psi. It's crazy...Ive never seen a integral gate do that, not even the one on my PTE52 back in the day on the Sy.

It would most likely 60 ft better than your current 20G:2cents:

If you are the person that keeps saying the 20G spools instantly I beg to differ... you need to run a stock turbo & see the difference between the two:2cents: & peace!

A 20g -14 with a stock TC and stock cam/heads is a dog. Did the swap on a friend's Sy and it ws night and day. Before, laggy, no rpm at all, after, 4 wheel tyre spin on launch.

All the people saying that you can get it to spool - I would love to know how.

I'm glad you approve of the GT35r as it's in my truck :D. Harmon told me it's too small though :(

Mine spooled alot slower than stock at first, untill a changed the wastgate.

I did run a stock turbo prior to my Ty engine rebuild on a stock TC, Truck runs an easy .5 second faster at stock boost (all it's ever ran) My current best ever 60' is a 1.78 in the Ty, that is with the 20g stock TC leaving at under 3k with 6-7psi

Wastegate only gets rid of too much boost - if there isn't enough in the first place, it's not going to help.

I just read a bit about the wastegate being open and bleeding exhaust at as little as 5psi in another thread.

Anyone else have that experience?

INDIRECTLY!!!

You can change your duty cycle so you can do things like adjust your rod leingh so that it stays closed longer and then adjust it so that it opens when it needs to (it will take a bit more duty cyle) This won't give you as good of results as the real deal, but its better than nothing... I gave up on the helper and didn't want to blow the money on a 'rea' gate soI ended up using a PTE (I think) actuator that had a much stiffer spring in it and cutting it up to fit my 20G :oops:

There is more to controlling just the wastegate duty cycle.

With after market electronic boost controllers, for example, the AEM TRU boost controller, there is a SPr (SPRING) function that is adjusted in accordance to the wastegate actuator base boost spring pressure, which will allow for the turbo to spool up even faster.

There is another factory (TW) turbine wheel option for the Mitsu 20G.I'm not sure if it applies to the Sy/Ty community, but In my experience with MHI and all my vr4's/gsxs I fell in love with a TD06SL2-20G option:, it uses a different, lighter inconnel material, higher flowing shape/aero( not the cup shape of trad mitsu tw's)and one less blade (11)than the traditional Mitsu td06-06h. Less mass, spool was fast and quick for the heavy comp side on a 2.0l 4cyl. Greddy had a lockout on it for awhile as a option, along with others for their kits,the one I have has the 3in comp cover from mhi for the 20g and monster 360degree thrust bearing and inline oil filter :) among other mods. I got the chance to mess with and help in various stages of turbocharger rebuild here for a local Mitsu/Garrett/imi/kkk rebuild shop, always wanted a Sy/Ty and can't wait till I can start modding them with reliable mhi mutt turbos as well :)
Lol rant off. Finalizing a typhoon trade and would like to start lending a hand around here.

There were also a couple guys selling Garrett turbine wheels that bolted right into the "H" wheel size.
It was a high flow turbine wheel w/10 blades.

You could also get the turbine housing machined to fit a larger turbine wheel ( larger than an "H" wheel) if you look further into modding them.

If you could install a newer higher flowing turbine wheel & compressor wheel into Mitsubishi turbos, that would be a nice option.

Need to find a Co. that can do all this in house.

I've got the ability to cut and profile housings to any wheel desired. With newer CW being made, The fact that the 20g is dis-continued, and the hike on Mitsu turbos as a whole after the new year makes one want to offer extended range, billet Compressor wheels and casted housings (n31+) with more nickel and larger wastegate areas and different nozzle sizes/stages.
Boost is great, isnt it? :)
