Re: Wont go into 1 or 2 manually If you're talking "physically shifting" the lever, then maybe if the lever on the trans itself had been altered "wrong" to accomodate a Gilbert Propshaft so now the leverage ratio is changed.

Re: Strange fuel pump behavior Out on a limb here but....If you got all kinds of crap in the bottom of the tank, the fuel sock could be gathering up junk over a period of time and eventually clog the sock. Shut off and the junk may dislodge temporarily....I hope you find the problem soon!
