Hi All,
After a few questions in the newbiee section a few weeks ago I can now report my Typhoon is sitting on my driveway.

She has 57,000 miles on the clock and is a 1993 model with 0170 in the last 4 digits on the Vin number, At the moment its Green and Gray(Sorry I hate this color ..lol...Too many green LandRovers around here  And Im deciding what color to have her sprayed

Here is a pic of her at the moment

Things Ive found so far,
a hole/ split in the pipe (Is it ment to look like the pipe of a Vacuum Cleaner hoze and expand like a baloon) from the turbo to the intercooler. I have a nice 2" dia stainless 90 deg bend I can use here with a bit of silicon tube each end

The self leveling Air pump is loud and seems to do sod all. I want / Need to harden up the suspension. Also lower it a bit. What do you guys suggest?

The truck is very original by the looks of things, ready for a good service but Im very happy with it. Expect lots of questions around the forum over the next few months

Cheers

Well, the extra loud leveling pump may not be the leveling pump. The loudest noise from the back of my Typhoon is the fuel pump. There is a fuse, ELC under the dash. If you remove this, it'll disable that pump. If you still hear the noise, it's probably the fuel pump.

As for firming up the ride, are you speaking about going around corners? For that I'd recommend a rear anti-sway bar.

Congrats on your purchase, and welcome.

Damn.....I hate to see a Green/Grey get repainted....I love that combo, however ultimately it's your truck, and ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Congrats on the purchase!

The ride is just real soft.. Im used to an 84 Vette and an 86 Trans Am. The TY feels like its floating on air...lol

The idea is to fit 17" Alloys (I want to keep some tire rubber) and lower it. I love the look of the 315 wide rear tires some of you have fitted. The stock 245's are a wide tire for the UK but they look so small on the Ty..lol

I dont mind changing the rear springs and shocks plus matching up a lowered front end. Just there is so much choice on what to do/get. Im in the UK and import a pallet of American Auto parts every month as part of my business, Id like to just buy the complete suspension setup that I need to make the truck sit right.

About the painting: are you spraying the firewall too?

I was thinking about spraying my green/grey a deep metallic green that looks black at most angles, with the cladding a much deeper, charcoal grey instead of the argent.

To be honest I wasnt going to do under the hood. I will be taking it to the spray shop in a few weeks time for them to see what they think. The body has a few blisters in the paint so the a bit of body work before the respray will also solve that problem.

The reason I have gone for the TY is well, I wanted one anyway :), but I have an Exhaust business in the UK The TY is going to be our DEMO Truck for the Electric Cut Outs we have. Nothing better to help sell them to the Jap Turbo Owners Market than a 15 year old truck kicking a new WRX's Ass on the 1/4 mile...lol

With this in mind I need to have a truck that looks good with a bit of Signage on it. So I was thinking Black on Black with Chrome Business Decals

I would really love to see it stay that color, but its yours.

If you want to lower it maybe belltech leafs in the rears with your choice of shocks ( I use kyb monomax's) a lot of others here seem to like them too. To lower the front either front coilovers or just cranking down the torsion bars, but you may need an alignment afterwards.

Yes the pipe does look like a vacuum cleaner hose and it does expand under boost. Replacing it with a SS pipe is common.
