which muffler?

Typhoon
I'm looking to redo my typhoon's exhaust in 3".

I will have no cat., just a muffler.

What is the best muffler to use and what is a good way to have the exhaust? (straight, curved..)

Also, post pics of your exhaust if you got em!

ATR exhaust is the best to use for a Typhoon, bar none, IMO.

Any 3" straight through muffler will do nicely.

I know you are aware of the boost control problems you will encounter after these modifications, right?

yes, i have read about them. It seems adding a wastegate will help control the boost.

Also, how are the Dynomax Ultraflo 3" in/out mufflers performance and noise wise?

not sure, it was done at mufflex in trenton nj and they take care of me so i dont know how much cheaper i got if any. they do all my exhaust work great people, little pricey for newbies but they do the best work i have seen. plus they mandrel bend inshop while you wait and can even bend 4" pipe such as the 4" systems i had on my firehawks.(awsome sounds) i would not go any other place for exhaust except maybe atr mufflers and then take them to mufflex for there systems. i do have a atr 3" crossflow on my gn and love that but, for different reasons such as stainless steel and at the time they were all i knew. but they do ship anywhere and if you need there number or web site email me or pm and i will get it for you

anyone ever run a flowmaster? I have heard you should use them, not sure why, but I love the sound of them? and they flow good.

A 3" in/out 2-chamber Flowmaster was on my truck when I bought it. I'm running through a stock-style replacement 'Catco' brand catalytic converter. The Flowmaster and Catco seem to flow pretty well. I only pick up .2 and 2 MPH at the track when I open the cutout in the downpipe that is placed before the cat con.
The Catco and the Flowmaster are also REALLY quiet on my truck. Can barely hear the engine, even at full-throttle. It is nothing like a Flowmaster on a healthy V8 engine.

Original owner of my truck put in a 3" from downpipe to tail w/3" heavy POS Flowmaster :x which corroded/crumbled inside/out. Replaced with lighter/nicer sounding/quieter 3" round Ultraflow w/flowmaster UNIVERSAL TRUCK TAILPIPE (slip-fit) KIT. :D
