What's the difference between a WB02 and an EGT?

I know one measures oxygen and the other, exhaust gas temperature, but don't both just measure how rich/lean you are running? I am considering adding one of these tools to my truck this year and I was thinking the EGT sounded good from what I read here, but then the WB02 doesn't sound so bad either. Also, what benefit will adding one of these gauges give me that I don't already have? Thanks.

EGT can be hot and you can still be running rich. Point is that EGT's can vary and your AFR won't be what you expect with the EGT readings...

WB 02 gets my vote. EGT will tell you when your motor is getting close to melting down. I'd rather use EGT than narrow band 02 (stock) though. Stock 02 gives you a trend to shoot for, but I've seen AFR's go scary lean and the stock 02 didn't change much... same with very hot EGT temps... so the stock 02 may give you some warning, it may not :/

Best situation is datalogging an accurate wideband 02 & EGT probe in each cylinder. Best we can hope for on a budget is datalogging a wideband 02 with Diacom/Datamaster.

Is there anything scheduled to become available this year that I might be able to purchase? Or is it a build it yourself-only kind of thing? The best I soldered was a 6 digit, 7-segment clock kit, if that's any indication of my soldering skills (beginner).

Can the WB02's signal just be sent to the same place the ECM normally expects the NB02's data, or isn't it as easy as that?

You can get on a list to have one completely built for you here, http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/wbo2/wbo2.htm

I would love one of the Oz DIY-WB-PCB. So the total cost is 95 for the card and 105 for the display, a lot to pay. Are there any other AFR with displays that have equal or close accuracy. Is 200 bucks for a AFR worth it?

Hell yeah that's worth it for access to a WB O2. Don't forget you'll need the sensor itself as well.

Proper tuning and tools to do so are worth their weight in gold. Horiba's are like a grand. If you're not doing you own tuning, it's nice to have just to confirm what you're actually running, but if you are doing your own tuning, you're just screwing around without one IMHO.
