What wheel sizes work together?

I'm getting some 17" Volk TE-37s and I can choose how wide I want them. I know that the 9.5" width in the front and 11" width in the rear come out to be nearly the same overall diameter. Would 8.5" and 11" combo work as well? Is there a calculator out there that I can use for this?

TIA!

Wheel width has nothing to do with diameter. You have to compare the sidewall ratio of the tire to its width, and factor in the wheel diameter to get overall diameter. I think you just worded your question weird...

http://www.syty.org/old/calculator.html is probably what you're looking for. It'll figure out diameter and revolutions/mile of some common tire sizes. However, each type of tire will be a little different, so you shouldn't take those measurements as gospel. Tirerack.com does list tire circumference and/or diameter too. If you find something close via that calculator, you can look the tire up to make sure they really are close enough.

Also, a lot of people use the 9.5" and 11" Corvette wheels simply because the offsets work out to fit on a SyTy, without having to use spacers or custom order the wheels...

Nice choice one the wheels Tyler. I looked at them but the price had me shy away. Very nice looking wheels though - and weight ;)

These are the sizes I'm playing around with:

Front: 255/45/17 - 26.04"
Rear: 315/35/17 - 25.68"
Ratio: 98.64%

Front: 275/35/17 - 24.58"
Rear: 315/35/17 - 25.68"
Ratio: 104.49%

Front: 275/40/17 - 25.66"
Rear: 315/35/17 - 25.68"
Ratio: 100.08%

It looks like alot of people are choosing the 9.5/11 combo since it's so close in tire size, as well as being a perfect fit in the ZR1's case. I'll go with 17x9.5 and 17x11 and make up any small differences with tire pressure.

Would a different offset than 41/13 be preferred for wider wheels?

TIA!

Tyler, I've also been looking at the Volk TE-37's. What I've been finding is that you can get them in 17x9.5 in the front but only in 17x10 or 17x10.5 for the rear. They do not make a 17x11" wheel from my reseach. I've talked to three or four dealers now and the widest I can get them in is 10 or 10.5". Also, with talking to these dealers some of them say that they will be fine to run on the street all the time, and that they will be able to hold the power and weight of our trucks and some also say that they are going to break. I would be very skeptical of buying them, and you also have to figure out the backspacing. On a 10" or 10.5" rim the backspacing is going to be somthing liek 42mm, where the 11" is 50mm, and to fit a 9.5" without a spacer it's a 36mm on the rear. I've been getting price quoted of $530-570 a wheel. Let me know if you need any more help, or info on these,
Lata,
Nick

This is a great offset calculator. You can mess around with it and find out exactly how ghetto your new wheels will be...
