Hey guys, thanks for your responces.
My chip is an ultimate V2, it is for Vortec, 412 cam, 50 pound injectors.
I can add, or remove fuel via gauge controler under boost. My only concern is normal (no boost ) driving.

Thanks again.

Not unless you got a much different ultimate than most people do. The ultimate positions alter timing and boost, but the fuel curve remains the same.

*EDIT*

I just realized you probably have the later gauge 50# ultimate that had fuel offsets.
While this is better than the other ones as far as fuel, you're still not going to have a fuel curve that matches the parts that you have.

Maybe you'll get lucky. At least you have a wide-band to be able to watch it.

2 years and yes I agree email chips SUCK

I wouldn't entirely agree with that... I've done some long-range stuff very successfully.
I've also had some massive failures.

Remote tunes can work, but it depends a *lot* on how much equipment the owner has, and what their feel is for the vehicle. When you do a remote tune, you're relying entirely on the perceptions of the driver and what they communicate back to you. Also, expectations have a lot to do with it- tuning takes time and lots of repetition, and if the owner isn't up for that, it's not going to be very successful.

I don't do email stuff much anymore for that reason... there's so much variability in the process that I can't guarantee a good product all the time, unless I know the owner well enough to know what they know.

Bottom line, there is no substitute for physically having the truck to do tuning. The end product will be better, and it will take less time.

Re: What Turbo??

I'm just saying for a mild upgrade over stock you can't beat the GT35R. I know there's a lot more in my truck with a proper tune. Hell i've owned it for 8 plus years and i've never made a pass at the track with it.

It will probably never get it since i no longer have intrest in the truck and it's just sitting in my garage getting dust. Anybody want a nice Syclone with a few good parts on it?

Re: What Turbo??

i bought my sy with a GT35R on it from the previous owner, i just purchased the new GTK-850 from Turbonetics for my Sy. im not replacing the GT35R for any negative or dissapointing reasons, Im just kinda in a "Horsepower/Torque Greedy" phase and wanna see how much i can get out of my truck. my new problem now that i didn't take into consideration before i purchased the turbo is that it's a totally different animal than the turbos i normally mess with, i got the turbo through a buddy that works at my previous job (summit racing) and like a Newbie I realized i gotta go back to the "Old Drawing Board." Im now looking at upgrading to tubular stainless headers and the proper mouting flange for the new turbo and a few other parts.

Long story short, with the modifications that have been done to my truck with that turbo, it's a SICK SICK SICK turbo, i would reccomend it to everyone looking to tear up the streets on pump gas or anything higher. i got a pretty sick bottom end set up already waiting for install for the truck, i'll post pics and info during the build up soon, it's gonna be ready by the time PINKS comes to Norwalk, im currently getting braided fuel lines and tranny lines fabbed up for it also.

I have a spare bracket if you're considering going the gt35r route if you need one that'll fit the turbo unless you just wanna modify yours ( it's not a labor intensive process)

im not authorized to post pics on here cause im still new but here's the link to what im working with now:

It's a very common misconception that with an Ultimate (or any other chip, for that matter) that you can change parts willy-nilly and the computer will just adjust for it all.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The ECU strategy that we have effectively fixes fuel at a certain level.... at x RPM and y manifold pressure, you have a fixed amount of fuel being delivered. (There are minor corrections for temp as well, but it's still a fixed amount)

If you force more air in, and don't add more fuel, bad things happen.

This is a very big part of why there are so many blown motors right now...people jump in thinking you can just throw a chip in, add a bunch of parts or a big turbo, and automatically go fast. Doesn't work that way. Even on "built" motors.

While of course I agree that parts need to be planned and matched, careful tuning etc., I have to admit that of the handful of turbo upgrades I have performed/witnessed 1st-hand, I have NEVER experienced a situation where it actually required more fuel at the same boost level as the stock turbo was running. And trust me - I was watching like a hawk for there to be one!! But there just wasn't, and it's happened to me like this, time and again.

I'm convinced that bigger turbos *don't* really "flow a ton more air" at the same boost level and they also don't really give any more horsepower at the same boost level. I have concluded that the only gains to be had from a "big turbo upgrade" are the ability to run at higher boost levels than the previous turbo could do efficiently. (I.e. being able to run 22-25 PSI on a stock motor with PT51 vs. a max of 20 PSI on the stock turbo.) I have never heard of an example where a truck was running say, 15 PSI on a stock turbo/stock motor, and upgraded to a different turbo, and dropped a significant amount of ET from all this supposed "extra air flow" at the same boost level.

There really needs to be a sticky called "Why you can't just put a chip in and a bigger turbo and have your motor survive it"

I have something comprehensive in the works! I promise to finish it in the next 1-2 weeks tops!
