What is this relay (pics)

It looks like a starter interupt but it doesnt have a connection to the alarm.

The small purple wire is connected to pin 85 and goes to main harness, I traced to fire wall plug and it identified as starter on schematic

The large purple that looks like it will go to the starter solenoid goes to pin 30(engine is out I didnt pull it)

Big red 12v to junction block goes to 87

Pin 86 is to ground

I am unsure of this relays function, it seems like if it were the starter interrupt, it would need a connection to the alarm trigger so the solenoid could open, the way its wired now it looks like it would be always energized shut. Is this something specific to these trucks or was the alarm not hooked up all the way.

Is it common for these trucks to need additional juice to the starter solenoid? Another thought I had was that this could allow direct battery voltage to be applied to the solenoid.

Yep, and Yep. That looks like what was done. Yes, the purple wire to the solenoid is a problem on these trucks and looks like that relay is put in there for that. Won't be quite as good as a remote solenoid but will probably help out on the purple wire syndrome.

x4 I just did it to mine a couple weeks ago. No more click-click-click-start
