What fuse to pull so it won't run

Re: What fuse to pull so it won't run

I'd say any one of four. ECM A, ECM B, Fuel Pump or COIL (might be labelled IGN). You may want to replace it with a blown one so it looks normal.

on a syty? I might just take the rotor off the distributor and put the cap back on. lets see a thief pull spare distributor rotor out of his @$$!

Uh. No.

ECM A is the ign input to the ECM. It can be accessed without removing the little under dash panel that 'hides' all the other fuses. Pull it, truck won't run. But it will be obvious its missing. I used to do this. It's easy, and gives peace of mind.

ECM B is the memory for the ECM and the fuel pump. There is no separate "Fuel Pump" fuse. The is no "IGN" fuse. And there is no fuse for the "Coil". The coil circuit is un-fused, and protected by a fuse-link at the alternator.

Depending on access to the connectors, remove the white and pink two wire jumper between the coil and the distributor. It won't run, and they won't take the time to come back with the missing part if they do figure it out.

The problem with these precautions is that they still **** up your steering column and doors trying to steal it. And if they can't get it started, may take a couple more minutes to completely vandalize your truck just because they're pissed. Cut the seats, kick the dash in, shit like that. Only takes a few more seconds.

The best protection is leave a big dog in it, or good insurance coverage. Have fun at Carlisle.

Re: What fuse to pull so it won't run

is thievery really that bad at carslisle?
Please Guy,s this did not happen at Carlisle I have been going to the truck nats at Carlisle almost every year since I got my truck in 1995. I have never seen heard or know of any reports of any vehicles ever being stolen there! At the fair grounds there is security and in town the cops are all over so don't speed you will get a ticket if they see you! Also at the fair grounds since we will be in a large group its a big deterent . I would use the same safemeasures you would use going to the mall . Again I have never worried of my sy being stolen here! :2cents: GARY&NOELLE

Keep in mind these ARE Syclones and Typhoons.....few people want them. Thieves take vehicles that are sought after and marketable ;).

OK, I guess I should be more clear in my post. I am staying with my aunt who lives in a town around carslile. I just wanted some added security. I did not mean to insinuate anything by this, just needed some info, that is all. I am sorry if people took it the incorrect way

Un plug the fuel pump connector behind the rear bumper. Easy to do, will crank but not run (makes noise), no parts to loose, gives peace of mind.

Enjoy Carlisle.

Or they just want to steal them, beat the shit out of them and then leave them for dead.

Kinda like mine...Quinns...the 2 in Colorado, etc....

Re: What fuse to pull so it won't run

I'd just slightly pull the coil wire off at the distributor....just enough so that it can't start....I do this sometimes when in shady area's in Mn.

I just don't see who wants to pull fuses ever time they park there truck. A simple relay with a hidden micro switch to trigger it is much easier...All that bending over and climbing around is ridiculous..
