What a trip!!

Re: What a trip!!

i wouldn't be surprised if you just yanked the motor out and put it in a nicer syty.

Honestly, that was my initial intent but it runs way too good to justify meddling with it. With some elbow grease and attention to detail, I think it can look almost as good as it performs....almost :).

Ah, you bought the One Lap Ty.... cool! I'll send you a short vid I've got of it going through a few turns and up the hill at Hallet Raceway in Oklahoma.

Re: What a trip!!

ah ok...THAT one. The asking price for what was in the thing was pretty good...but it looked about as put together as my truck that hasn't run in 8 yrs. Good luck with it...although i wouldn't be surprised if you just yanked the motor out and put it in a nicer syty. I never saw this truck in person, but even in pics you could tell it had been run pretty hard.

good luck with it!

I don't know Mike... I spent almost an entire day with it when it was in the One Lap and I was pretty damn impressed (as were the other racers :D ). Yes, it had been driven hard, but it was well built.... there were a few little things that I'd have done differently (different heat wrap on some of the components). It was sure interesting seeing a non-intercooled Ty running under those conditions!

Re: What a trip!!

I'd put some sort of intercooler on it, just for the peace of mind.

A decent-sized water/air would be less plumbing, and would get the job done.
I guess if it's sorta hacked up already, an a/a isn't too much of a stretch.

Hey Mike, I am bettin you know about this one.....not much gets past you ;). It is a white/grey 92 (0393) that was run in Lap 1. I bought it primarily for the Bowtie block but think I am gonna have all the cladding sprayed white and replace the OZ racing wheels with a set of white powdercoated ZR1's and just have fun with it. I still am amazed how fast and smooth this thing pulls through the gears. It looks like a contraption under the hood but somebody knew what they were doing a whole, whole lot better than me. I'll try to post pics in a few days as it is not very presentable right now after the 912 mile winter saga.

Regards.

I think I saw this Ty for sale about 2 yrs ago at Super Chevy show at Maplegrove raceway. It was a cool looking truck with lots of trick stuff done to it if I remember.
Your lucky you made the trip when you did,it's snowing now here in Pa,and we're supposed to get another 12-18 inches.

Nice buy Shaun

That indeed is one interesting truck. I like the thinking outside the box design that is displays. I would still put an intercooler on it, just to keep the iat's down.

And welcome back.

See ya,

I've got a bunch of pics of it on my photobucket page (see my sig link, look under hallet). Here's a quick video I shot of it going up the hill... this is when I put out the call for someone to meet Scott at his next stop with a fresh set of plugs :D cool truck:tup:

Re: What a trip!!

Hey guys. Will endeavor to get some nice pics of it tomorrow. We got snowed on last night and the kids occupied most of my free time today with snowmen and sleds.

Thanks Rob for the historical photo's. It looks alot better now though. Scott sold it to his dealership General Manager for his collection in 2008 and it was cleaned up quite a bit. Although the visit was short with Mr. Jones due to the impending storm, I was privileged to see some very neat and unique cars. He was so down to earth and I thoroughly was enjoying myself.....but the enjoyment was short lived once I hit I-81S (haha)!!

Nice buy Shaun  welcome back.

Thanks Paul on both accounts. There were a few under the radar screen who were attempting to snatch this truck up. Glad it came to TN.

Re: What a trip!!

What plans do you have for it, restore it? Or just drive and enjoy it like it is. Either way sounds like a monster.

Hey Josh, I'll post pics afterwhile. I think it is pretty unique as is and everything works super great so, what I would consider a restoration is not in the plans. I do want to drop the hitch, fix and align the cladding (2 pieces have cracks and I am leaning toward having it all sprayed white but I'm not 100% set on that yet), put a headliner back in it, align the steering and just have fun driving it. If Jimmy can go for a spin today, he can post his perspective....I need to send him a PM though. Plan to wash it around noon and then post pics. It may get some laughs but I can't stress enough how perfectly it performs. It's a rush every time it builds boost.

Re: What a trip!!

Thanks Joe for picking up the slack :). Here's one of the pilot/co-pilot area. Under the cloth cover, where the passenger knees would be, is a number of neat electronics. That is as specific as I am able to get at this point (smile).
