Water Temperature Senders

Does anyone know if a stock water temperature sender, like the one in the head of the truck, is the same resistance range as one you would use in an after market temperature gage...

My water temperature gage does not work of course and I would like to swap in an extra one that I have to see if this will fix it.

I hate my engine temperature gage does not work right.. when it is at 160 it is barely off the first mark. Was not sure if this was something that happens or just corrosion on my temp sender in the head or something.

TIA

Mine is the same way. With the stock stat it went up a little more. Think this is pretty common and I doubt it can be fixed with a new sender.

That is what I was afraid of.. you know all of this money in this motor and everything, I hate driving around not knowing what temp it is running at.

I will check and see if a new sensor is only a few bucks and see if that fixes it, I will post and let you know.

I had the same problem with mine. I ended up at one point replacing the waterpump and it had a plug in it that I used an autometer water gauge setup and it reads temps perfect. HTH
