valve seal replacement

Has anyone changed the valve seals without removing the heads? I know of it being done on other vehicles but I was not sure on the SY/TY. Did you pressurize the cumbustion chamber to hold the valve in place??Which valve seal was used?? Thanks :) :)

Use air to pressurize the chamber. I used the viton/rubber seals from Advance auto that fit over the end of the valve guide PLUS new O ring seals. Worked for me every time.

hell, that would be even better then what i was thinking. Bestow us with your knowlege!

LOL... well, I dunno about all that knowledge you think I posses(sp?) but lemme finish my "Union" post on the buick board(novel of epic proportions even for me) and I'll see what I can do.

its not hard or complicated.
nor do u need air.
if u want to use air, great. if not, use clean thin nylon rope. take out the spark plugs and feed the rope into teh cylinder while the piston is at tdc.
the rope will keep the valve from falling into the cylinder whilst you take apart the valvetrain and do the seals, etc. i'd replace the valve springs while u r in there. you'd be surprised how much top end can go away with soft springs, adn they're cheap.
