Ultmate V9 problems...

i have installed (finally) my ultimate V9 chip (correctly, I might add...), and am now having problems....

If I install the new 3bar MAP and UV9, I hook up the DM and get EST FAILURE code, and a constant 'ding' from the laptop. EST BYPASS=1 on the screen. i go and drive the thing (on T1-17) with total octane ~104 (7 gallons of 93 and 6 gallons of toulol) and I get mad knock counts (>10 degrees spark retard) and total timing advance is around 4-6 degrees total. If I swap the stock EEPROM and 2barMAP, I do not get the 'ding' or the EST FAILURE code. the BYPASS EST=1 is still there, but at idle I have ~34-35 advance, and under load (WOT and shifting from 2 to 3rd gear), I get 1.4 degrees spark retard with total spark advance of ~13-15 degrees. With the stock chip, the truck runs real good (12.7X runs). With the Ultimate, it knocks like it was cool!

I am sorry, but I will not be representing SYTY at the Nats, but next weekend, I hope to have the truck in conditions to run in an 1/8 mile race.

Are you certain you have it installed correctly?

I don't know who you are or where you are from, so pardon me if I am insulting you.. but i swear 80% of problems with chips comes from install issues.

You have the stock chip piggybacked to the Ultimate, right?

I reread through the instructions a few times. The only thing I did not do (because it seems not to need it) was to trim the chip. It seats perfectly well into the carrier, and my stock EEPROM (with cover removed, and chip facing the chip on the piggyback board) inserted into the ultimate caarrier. All that stuff is plugged into the computer, and seated well. I have the radar-display.

Where do you live?

I can have you send it to me and I can try it on a local truck to test it, and see what's up.

Also, this won't make a lick of difference with the EST and such, but I didn't see fuel pump or adjustable FPR listed in yer mods... the 3 bar cal's are really designed around elevated fuel pressure FYI.

I'll take care of it one way or another. We're working out details now. I'm thinking it may be a cable issue that occured just before we switched over to the new designs. A couple of the new cables designed for the knock circuit were used accidentally in the old style chips, which can cause the ESC circuit to be grounded, thus signaling false knock.
