Ty still not running right

Hi Folks. Pursuant to my previous post, my Ty is still not 100%. At WOT it goes well except for a short loss of power that is intermittent. As well, it chugs a bit at about 1,700rpm while in 4th gear.

I have pulled a DM file and nothing is standing out.

Since my last post I have replaced the fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator. Fuel pressure is perfect.

I have checked vacuum hoses, new dist, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, etc. New O2 sensor. Heads recently rebuilt, replaced turbo, new radiator, new cat back exhaust from RPM.

My Brother who is knowledgable about Fords, suggested a possibile problem with the ECM.

What are your thoughts please?

All help appreciated. I am really on the edge here!

still have the stock catalytic converter ? if it does,, prolly a little plugged and could cause that type of issue

I had a similar issue. Look at your DM file and pay attention to RunTime. This is a number that continues to grow the longer the ECM has power beginning each time you start. If you see it drop to -0- and start over while running then you have power/ground issues with your ECM. (This drop will coincide with your short loss of power.) This is what happened to me. Once I fixed the, in my case, ground issue things went much better. (I had other issues as well but this helped a bunch.)

Re: Ty still not running right

Thanks for the tip. Doesn't seem to be happening. I have enclosed a shot of the DM. As you can see, it is all over the place. Any other ideas?

Can you post the actual file so it can be downloaded?

Whats up with the injectors at frame 748? (1750 rpm)

All of a sudden you go to 92% injector duty cycle, going 9mph, at 20% throttle?

I have no idea what that is about. There is a point at frame 840+ that it breaks 100%. What could cause this?

That's at WOT - you've run out of injector there.

The random ones are the ones that make me scratch my head though. ETA- Nevermind, bug in TT, ignore.

Whats your chip \ injector status? Stock?

Re: Ty still not running right

Any other suggestions? I am looking at changing the ECM.

Do I need to change the whole box or just the board and chip?

Re: Ty still not running right

One thing that I see is lots of spark retard as boost comes in. What fuel are you using? I would also check for a slipped damper which would cause incorrect initial timing. One simple thing is to just retart the initial timing (with tan wire disconnected) a few degrees. For example my truck seems to do best with timing retarded about 2*.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? All new parts I know but it might be worthwhile to check that fuel pressure follows boost pound for pound.

Edit: Also inj duty cycle exceeds 100% which essentially means the injs are open all the time. So it would seem form that that you have a fueling issue of some kind.

Another edit: I notice your TPS voltage is low. See this thread for some hints.

Re: Ty still not running right

Thanks. The damper is new as well. I don't think it is timing.

I have put a fuel pressure gauge on it and it sits at 42lbs. The fuel pump is new. As it is stock, it shouldn't need more fuel.

I am thinking it is the Cat or possibly the ECM.

What I was suggesting was to retard the timing just a bit as a test.

I understood that.. What's important is that fuel pressure INCREASE 1# for every # increase in boost and that should be checked as well.
