Truck running horrible

Well, after replacing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, I found the 10 amp fuse just off the alternator was blown. Replaced it. It started up and ran like a dream for about 15 minutes. I changed the oil. I took it around the block and it idled and ran just awesome. Then sitting there it died. It is back to running the same way as it was before. It starts hard, then runs really poorly, blowing black soot all over. It made some popping noises out of the tailpipe a couple times and then sometimes it will rev up and just stay there. I have to shut it off to make it stop. This all started when I got it back from the tranny shop. I have removed the battery cables. No difference. I can't find any reason why it's doing this. I've spent all day looking behind the motor and all over for a reason. Any Ideas??? Please...

Re: Truck running horrible

Do you have datamaster yet? Also mine ran really rich when I first got it, at every light I gave it gas black smoke would coming pouring out. Once I got the intercooler kinda working ran alot better and no more smoke. (plus had power too)

Re: Truck running horrible

sounds like a spark issue (with all the raw fuel/crap out the back) possible.

make sure your plug wires are on TIGHT.

are the plugs on the right spots on the cap? (correct firing order)

gap the plugs to ~ .028

make sure your O2 sensor is functional (via datamaster, or http://www.syty.org/old/d&e.html#chk )

make sure the ECM Fuse "ECMB" is in (10 amp, bottom left of fuse block)

make sure your dizzy cap is on snug, and all associated plugs.

also, make sure your coolant temp sensor is active, if not, the car may be spraying too much fuel.

that should be a start, from there, keep us posted.

Re: Truck running horrible

I don't have a datamaster cable yet. I will order one this week. It really runs horrible when it's acting up, which it is right now. Way to much fuel is being put in. Hopefully the data mater will tell me some more info.
