I've been having a problem with the tranny. Basically the 1-2 shift which is supposed to be firm and hard its no more like that
I remember it was super strong even during normal driving, then I adjusted the tv cable and it's no longer like that, now its sluggish and the 2-3 shift is much more strong and firm than the 1-2 shift. When I bought the truck it shifted beautifully and very firm, three days later the truck wouldn't shift into parking, but yet it would shift pretty strong and firm. I jacked up the truck, adjusted the shifter cable and the problem was fixed. About 2 months ago I adjusted the TV cable with the instructions that are given in sportmachines.com. As soon as I finished adjusting the cable I test drove the truck and felt no difference. As time passed by the shifting became softer and softer and the truck wouldn't get into parking anymore, well it did but if it was on a hill without the emergency brake you could hear a "clack clack clack" as you watched the truck going down in "parking" I jacked the truck again and adjusted the shifter cable hoping it would fix both problems. Well now the truck shifts into parking but the 1-2 shift continues to soft and it gets really soft as you put a few miles... sometimes you can feel the truck struggling to shift, the it shifts so soft you can bearly feel it... as soon as the 2-3 shift hits it's quite normal and firm... well alot firmer than the 1-2 shift... I have adjusted the tv cable a few times more but no big changes at all... maybe during the first two runs... Also I've checked the tranny fluid as the chiltons manual says to and the fluid is ok... I also noticed that the truck as soon as I adjusted the shifter cable it started to leak tranny fluid in little amounts(don't know where its coming from), anyways the tranny fluid level is ok and it still has the same problem.
Please if anyone can help me out or give me any advice I will really appreciate it. I've tried to fix it by myself, but I see no good now I'm looking for your help and advice. I live in PR and don't know any other sytyer that can help me nor any trustful tranny shop, in fact I don' t trust any shop... what I'm trying to say is that I'm practically by myself and in the need of help.
