Im running this tranny cooler for my syclone

prm.jpg

its a HEADER style cooler, meaning the coolant dosnt flow in tubes back in forth across it, it just fills the cooler and fills each tube as it goes, in on one side and out the other, my questions is, which direction to mount the cooler?

should I have the inlet/outlet facing up(tword the hood), or facing down(tword the ground), im afraid with the ladder, it might trap air in the cooler, any ideas? experiences? suggestions? not much of a fluid mechanic, thanks guys ...

Im no fluid mechanic either but FWIW I mounted mine with the inlet (hot from the trans) on th bottom and the outlet on top. My thinking was the fluid woud hopefully force any air to the top and out using the aid of gravity.

Dunno if that theory holds any water (fluid? ) but it seemed logical to me. If the truth was known the subject could prolly be argued for eons.

if you don't run it so the flow is bottom to top...then all of the tubes will not be used equally, and you will undoubtedly have air trapped in there.

Mount vertically...

Good idea, Will - don't know why I didn't think of that. No, don't say it !
I have to redo my GN one like this because I got it in backwards, so I'll think about that.

I think these are the best type of Cooler for the Trans or anything else beacuse U can go w hard fittings all the way. Unfortunately, I already have one of the winding tube (serpentine) type 4 my TY Trans and U gotta have at least 2 rubber hose connections.

hmm, its pretty long, Ill try to get it to fit, if it dosnt, I was thinking about mounting it with the inlet/outlet facing down and drilling/tapping a plug in the top to get the air out and fill it... thanks for the info suggestions guys...

The ones that I have seen have the inlet and the outlet at the bottom. Aloso if you notice it's the same setup that ATR and others have used for years for our aux IC coolers. Those are also setup with the inlet and outlet on the bottom. I had one setup for my IC cooler for six years and never had a problem.

John,

So, Ur saying to mount them upside down ? I would think air pockets would never be able to get out then. If U got an air pocket in the top, it's got no way to get out unless there is an outlet on the top.

Both ports at the top would be better than both at the bottom. Ideal would of course be In Btm, Out Top.
