Re: trailblazer SS

I did try one out, black AWD, great looking truck. I was really thinking about trading in my MDX for it. Didn't feel as quick as I was expecting it to. Just seemed to make a lot of noise, fortunately this noise is a great throaty growl. I also hated the transmission, it felt like it was always wanting to shift, never seemed to settle on a gear. I hate to say it as I am not a Jeep fan, but the SRT8 felt much stronger.

According to my boss, the torque management in the computer pulls the SS down to 195hp at the rear wheels....he managed to delete all the files in all of 9 hours and brought the truck up to like 360hp at the wheels

Re: trailblazer SS

There are a few of us here with TBSS'

It's a heavy pig, but I love to drive mine. A sy/ty is lighter and well tuned should be able to take an SS any day.

Mine is AWD and will lay a patch; its tuned.

Re: trailblazer SS

Last time i was at the local 1/8 mile track there was a Black RWD TBSS ou there running and he didnt have his time showing but he looked real strong, and later in the night i got to talking to the owner, he had the truck for a month at that point an it had a converter, drag radials and a 100 shot and was running 8.1 in the 1/8 and i ran my best of 8.58 that night, but since the track was so busy we couldnt get them lined up for a good side by side, i forgot to ask what his short times were.

Nice trucks IMO and id buy one for sure, probably a RWD one though.

Re: trailblazer SS

Sounds to me like he wasn't racing. The SS has 395 HP/400 pounds feet of torque. Weight:4680 RWD 4860 AWD Tows: 6500 AWD 6700 RWD

Re: trailblazer SS

I have tuned a couple TBSS. The first thing I would do is put a converter in one. Once 4000rpm hits they are alot of fun but it seams to take a bit off the line to get there. I'm sure a 3000-3500 would solve that.

Re: trailblazer SS

Nolan,

you can also run a regular production v6 converter ( I think its 2800)..which helps alot.

Re: trailblazer SS

went to the track 2 weeks ago race my brothers blue ss ran a 14.7 2 or 3 times but thats about it kinda fun nice truck needz a better 60 foot havent race him yet but my ty stock is a 0ne second quick and about 90,000 miles more

Re: trailblazer SS

A kid that lives in my town owns one, I asked him if he wanted to race when I got my truck out of the shop, but he saw it when I got the new engine put in and said he knew I would smoke him. I have heard they have some kind of torque management system in the first 2 gears to limit wear on the tranny, IDK if it is true or not, haven't done much research since I can't afford one anyways.

agreed they probably all handle better then my ty. but what i do know is they dont have nearly the trq as i do, i might be slightly higher in hp now but forget it once i crank the boost up 8 more psi with 116 and advance timing heh.
