About 2 degrees before it will be obviously visable. Whomever you got it from should have included the instructions, ask for them.

Ok..what makes this so obvious? I usually only get 1or 2 blinks. Does 2 degrees mean it will blink alot or smack me in the face obvious?

If you can see it faintly blinking you have about 2 degrees of retard. Log a run with a scan tool and note the behavior of the light. Replay the log afterwards and see how much knock occured to correlate this with what you observed. You'll never be able to distinguish 5 degrees from 7, but rather rather know that a: you are getting knock, and b: whether it is severe of mild or something in between. Over time you may be able to learn to determine a little more precisely how much knock you have by the intensity/duration of the light.
