Re: Tci Tcu Questions

I did search for a bench-test method for the manifold , but found nothing in the million pages that google showed me for each different way I thought it could have been worded. After looking at it for a while , I decided to test continuity from one side of the contact to the other while pressing down with an eraser head . Each one made contact and beeped when pressed. I even tested each one twice to be certain . It feels good that I at least ruled out something

When I removed the manifold and looked at it , there was a little gunk (light buildup but not caked on) on 4 of the 5 contacts (microscopic pieces similar to what i see stuck to the pan magnet). The prnd43 had the most and prnd4 was almost as bad . There was only a little on the rev and d4 . Low was almost spotless .

Looking through the old trans fluid I did see 1 good size flake/chip and figured while I am in here I might as well double check everything .I going out now to remove the entire valve body . I want to make sure the 1-2 valve isnt stuck or that there are any shavings from the hd2 install jamming up somewhere . Once those 2 things are verified , I am going to put it all back together and move forward from there .

Wish me luck . :D

Re: Tci Tcu Questions

Good thing this tranny has a drain plug  :squint:

I got some time to tinker around just now . I filled up my trans again , put on a big smile , and started her up . POP goes the fuse to the trans +12v .
I unplug the tcu and try a new fuse , pop again .Nope not the tcu . Next I unplug the harness on the trans itself , put in new fuse , fuse is good . Plug back in trans harness , pop . Woohoo problem is in the trans .

All I did was unplug stuff , remove the valve body , verify springs werent binding or stuck , put all back together and plug everything back in . Whatever electrical component that was giving me issues before is still there .

Im going to unplug each connector inside the trans and check the fuse after plugging them back in one by one . Now i can finally see whats the deal .Maybe the first tcu that was bad blew something , or maybe whatever it is was already bad *new* out of the box . Should be cake after that .
