Glad that I spent over an hour an a half cleaning up the truck before going out cruising today. Wouldn't want to represent the syty community in a negative light
. In the six years that I owned my truck, I have NEVER got to mess with a vette. They are either going the other way, I can't get beside one or the driver is an old dude who has zero interest in running
. Well, all that changed today.
I turn off the highway and am heading into town when I see a GORGEOUS red vette coming up quick in the passing lane. As it gets closer, it slows quite a bit and the driver is REALLY checking me out. He gets right beside me and I can see it's a young guy prolly late 20's or early 30's. And the car is badged Z06... Well, he gives a HUGE smile and and ever bigger thumbs up
! I did the same and he slowly passes me and I drop in behind him to pass a car in my lane. After we pass the car, he drops into the right lane and I romp it and vent 16 psi right at his door
. He laughs and nods a big "HELL YA!". He responds by romping it too to demonstrate what big HP can do when it isn't lacking traction. The car practically "launched" from a 50 MPH roll
. The exhaust sounded WICKED, that vette was NASTY!
Well we finally catch a light and he ended up behind me due to slower traffic in his lane. There were three cars in front of me but, that didn't prevent me from giving him a little "show"
. I could see him clearly in my rearview. When he saw me rise up out of my seat to try and put the brake pedal through the floor while the front of my truck rose from brake torquing it, he got a "OH HELL YES!" look on his face. He knew exactly what was up.
Sytys have always been referred to as "stoplight warriors" and I had every intention to show him why. The light went green and I let the cars in front on me get about one hundred feet out before ripping out of the hole with 7 psi in a perverse display of torque and traction that defies belief on the street. Usually I launch with 5 psi and I had some wheel spin before I hooked up. But when I did, I was GONE and he had and even bigger smile on his face once he caught up to me. He ended up beside me again and said that my launch was "bad ass"!
Beyond that, we got to run once from a 40 MPH roll and there was NO doubt who won that match... Needless to say, I will be using twice as much toilet paper now that I have two bung holes  . Funny thing was before that run, I did a quick "who's behind me" look (Johnny Law?) and saw there was a red 'stang behind us wanting some action I guess. When we both went WOT, that 'stang was an object in both our rearviews getting smaller  . I caught back up to him and was cruising beside him and told him that I "didn't want any of that from a roll!" and how SICK that car was. He just smiled and gave me the thumbs up again. We ended up parting and never got to go from a dig
. Anywho it made my night to tangle with a BAD ASS car with a VERY COOL owner who gave the owner of a 14 year old "pick 'em up truck" props!
