T04B w 60-1 what to expect?

Engine is getting pulled in next few days for a rebuild. I have a new T04B with a 60-1 wheel in it from Tim's Turbos.

What kind of reliable power can I make with this and still have it be an almost daily driver around town?

Also, looking for specifics on what to do to the engine once it is out as far as upgrades.

So far, I know I need the following"

4 bolt mains
vortec heads
New torque converter ? Size recommendation?

***************************
I already have
10-1 chip
50# Injectors
Air-Air IC
Electric Fans
3" Exhaust

I was going to write that I would be careful about buying T04B 60-1 turbo, becuase these used all of the place and those are just the compressor side not the exhuast. You don't want a 2.0L exhuast side. Anyway I wne to Tim's Turbo website and aparently he owns a Typhoon and sell a specific turbo for SyTy

60-1 is the wheel 59mm, 60 trim and I think is T04B is the compressor housing. I thinks its a moderate turbo, something like a TE60 or PT52. He doesn't list the 60-1 on his page but lists the 57 Trim T04B which is slightly smaller. I think his number are probably optomistic for 350-500 on the higher end.

I would ask the person who sold you the turbo for what he would recommend for a stall. A 2800 hundred would definately do it, but you might be able to get away with something just above stock.

Used to own a Ty. I bought it about 6 months ago. I blew it up! Oooops!

Anyway, any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to reinvent the wheel here. Just put together a proven combination.

Thanks

I don't know of anyone using that turbo in a SyTy. You could alway try the stock stall and see how that goes.

Ive plotted the stock head and cam syty engine on your 60-1
at 4500 rpm

it seems a little big as you want to be just on the other side of the high
center efficiency island at max rpm. This turbo is inefficient in the range
where the stocker lives.. and could actually add more heat. Raising the boost
just moves the red dot up and over a little but not enough I think.

here is an L35 engine with a T04B T61 at 3500 rpm
5500 puts it over to the right of the center island

this stuff is all based on theory but will put you in enough of a ballpark
to have a nice match to your engine

I ran a 60-1/12cm2 hybrid for the last 7 years. Loved that turbo (recently upgraded). Good spool (I had 2800 stall), nice top end, and not too loud. Mine was custom built by John Myers Turbo (now www.turborepair.com) and has performed flawlessly all these years.

FWIW, I ran a personal best of 7.35 @ 96 in 1/8 with that turbo, 50#ers, 412 cam, 2800 stall, Waller IC, and my personal tune/chip.

Might not be an apples to apples turbo comparison, but that's all I could offer.

on the head thing, I am planning on Vortec heads where does that move my dot on the graph now?

Also, a cam and whatever else I can afford!

One thing about the compressor maps is they change with the exhaust wheel & housing, so the compressor maps might change a bit if they are for motor with half the displacement. As far as I know most of the PTE turbo's map that float around, aren't with the PTE SyTy housing.
