SYTY Guru's needed badly

Well GURU's I need some much needed assistance. Truck will not start. Problem is I can't get my fuel pump to turn on. Symptoms that first happened, truck would start rev to about 1500 for about 2 seconds and die, did this a couple times so I let it sit for about an hour and started and ran fine. Now I can't get it started. Fuel pump will not come on. Replaced ecmb and ecm1 fuses, replaced fuel pump, replaced relays. Fuel sending unit is basically brand new(6 months). Opleeezz mentioned something about the oil pressure and that having something to do with the fuel pump not coming on, anyone heard of anything like this. My oil pressure has always been real good. Any thoughts and ideas are much appreciated, I going to have white hair by the end of the month! Thanks again!

I think the oil pressure unit is used as a back up to the fuel pump relay only. So I guess if both are jacked it would cause this, but that is unlikely. I would still check both the fuel pump relay and the oil pressure unit.

You may want to check the wires going to the pump. If you have an ohm meter lying around. Check in several spots and try to find exactly where the wire is bad. Not much on SyTy's but I know a little on wiring. Clint

Yeah, sounds like you basically checked everything but the wires. Perhaps one of those new PnP fuel pump harnesses would fix the problem, and be an upgrade at the same time?

Theres a fuel pump test conector on the firewall thats small and gray....fix a wire to the positive treminal on the the battery and stick the other end to the gray test terminal, which will energize the pump directly......

If it still doesn't come on, you can test the volts at the fuel pump but its proally the wiring to the pump cuz theres like 2 or 3 connectors until it gets to the pump.

If the wirings bad I'd just run a direct wire from the fuse box or relay...can't remember witch one.

Later,
Malik
