So i have a 1952 GMC and want to do something different so I was thinking about how unique it would be to build it on an SyTy platform. As many people have I will have to redo the frame and will probably be using an S10 frame so i was wondering. Are the 92 S10 and 92 SyTy frame the same? and If not does anyone know what the differences are or heard about anyone doing anything like thing

A 92 4x4 frame would be identical.. Personally I would use a 95 or newer frame as they are almost fully boxed...

Re: SyTy Frame

I agree with matt they are boxed much further back, Now is you truck a long bed or short bed?

If it is a short bed you will need a long bed or an ext cab chassis for the wheel base and over all length to be close. If it is a long bed you will need to lengthen the s10 chassis.

i think the s-10 frame is going to be a little small for a 1959 gmc. here is what it looks like on a 88 suburban frame.

Re: SyTy Frame

its a 52GMC its a short bed fleet side and I am wondering because I want to do something different and a AWD Turbo V6 52 GMC would definitally be different and hella cool

I know i will need a long box or extended cab and how hard would it be to put a SyTy drive train into a newer S10 frame? i dont care if i have to build custom shafts or anything like that its going to have to be custom wired and a few other things regardless

i like the pick up down there on the burb frame that thing looks sweet i think the s-10 frames were the same up to somewhere in the 2000's late 90's right?

Re: SyTy Frame

they stayed the same until 2003 and i figured the SyTy frames would be the same just figured i would ask.

So anyways the reason for asking is I am planning on building a SyTy powered AWD 52 GMC chop top Everyone has a big V8's i just think it would be unique

Re: SyTy Frame

i would put it on a full size chevy frame from the 90's or 4wd i guess would work also then they had 4.3's in them then all u would have to have is all th sy stuff would be a better idea

FULL size frame would be better.. Like a newer 4x4 silverado. Then use silverado SS AWD t-case and differentials. and power it up by the 4.3.

Re: SyTy Frame

Why an s-series frame fits under it like a glove, actually for around a grand there is a guy here in MN that sells a kit that makes your 50 body bolt on. I have seen them used and turned out great but I have nevered used them. We have done it a couple times, as well as now putting an 4x4 frame under my roomates 46 chev pickup and converting it to awd with a 5.3 turbo.

Do a search on the hamb at www.jalopyjournal.com

It is a pretty straight forward swap as long as you can be creative with the mounts. I have done 2 of them. PM me if you would like information.
